Don't miss this epic Chromebook sale at Best Buy — here's 5 deals I'd buy from $219

There are plenty of Chromebooks on the market, but picking the best Chromebook for your needs can be tricky. Some are underpowered, whereas others are overpriced. Fortunately, back to school sales are underway and Best Buy has Chromebooks on sale from $219. The sale includes some basic machines — that are great for Web-based tasks — as well as deals on more powerful Chromebooks that could even serve as your main laptop. Below I've rounded up my top five deals. (For more discounts, check out our guide to the best back to school laptop sales). This Lenovo IdeaPad 3i is a cheap, durable Chromebook that's good enough for browsing the web or doing light schoolwork. The 15.6-inch 1080p screen gives you plenty of room to stream videos, and the 4GB of RAM and Intel Celeron CPU are good enough for basic work. The only big limitation is the 64GB of storage space, but Chromebooks rely on Internet access and cloud apps for most things anyway. If you need more power, I recommend this configuration for $319 ($130 off) which packs 8GB of RAM and a 128GB SSD. The Lenovo Chromebook Duet is one of the best Chromebooks around, and with this price cut, it now presents more value than ever. Expect a sharp 11-inch WUXGA (1920 x 1200) IPS display, commendable MediaTek Kompanio 838 CPU, 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Mainly, this excels at all online tasks, and for most, that's exactly why it's a steal at this price. The Acer Chromebook Plus 516 is an awesome laptop option for casual gamers. It's lightweight, delivers great performance and the battery life is awesome. If you don't mind sticking to cloud gaming services, this is almost unbeatable value. It has a 16-inch 1920 x 1200 16:10 display, Core i3-1315U CPU, 8GB of RAM, and a 128GB SSD. Armed with an Intel Core i5-1335U CPU, 8GB of RAM, and 128GB of storage, Asus has given this Chromebook enough horsepower for any ChromeOS workload. This is one of the cheapest ways to get all the Chromebook Plus AI features, alongside impressive game streaming features to boot. The Galaxy Chromebook Plus is proof that Chromebooks can be used as mainstream machines. In addition to its 15.6-inch 1080p AMOLED display, this laptop also packs a Core 3 chipset, 8GB of RAM, and a 256GB SSD. At 2.5 lbs., you can also take it just about anywhere.

The Asus Chromebook CX14 Is a $429 Laptop That Isn't Horrible

Like the mediocre quality of the display, the touchpad is also rather middling. I've used worse, but its plastic surface isn't as smooth and responsive as glass ones. The click mechanism is loud and requires too much effort to press. It's also loose, so you can depress the touchpad without registering a click. All of this is common in cheap laptops, and over time, it's something I think I could get used to. But when you jump back to something more premium, you'll notice a huge difference. The keyboard isn't quite as troublesome, but the keys do feel squishier than I like. I don't mind the grippy texture on the keycaps. There's a solid selection of ports, including HDMI 1.4, USB-A 3.2, USB-C 3.2, a USB-C port for charging, and a headphone jack. It's well rounded, but there's a problem: They're all on one side. You'll only find a Kensington lock slot on the right side of the device. Unfortunately, that means you'll only be able to charge the laptop from the left side. Just Enough Power Photograph: Luke Larsen There are two versions of the Asus Chromebook CX14 available right now. My review unit was the more expensive configuration, which comes with more of everything—a faster CPU, twice as much RAM (8 GB), and twice as much storage (128 GB). The processor is the Core 3 Series 1, otherwise known as the Intel Core 3 N355. It's an interesting chip, using only eight efficiency cores and no performance cores, compared to the conventional dual-core setup of the Celeron chips. Performance isn't anything to write home about, though it was 38 percent faster in the Speedometer 3.1 benchmark than the Celeron-based Asus Chromebook CX15 I tested last month. That means web applications feel a bit snappier and more responsive, especially when you have a lot going on at the same time. It's hard to argue with the price of that cheaper configuration (especially when it's on sale), but if you intend to use the CX14 for active work or studying, you'll appreciate the boost to performance and extra storage. Asus claims the CX14 lasts for eight hours on a charge. In my tests, it lasts for about that long. Mind you, this is on local video playback with the screen at 100 lux—not exactly a heavy load. My normal work day use dropped that down by quite a bit, and I certainly needed a recharge during the day. So no, that's nowhere near as long-lasting as the Lenovo Chromebook Plus 14, nor is it comparable to more premium laptops like the MacBook Air or Surface Laptop. But for a laptop of this price, it's decent.

Asus launches Drop Zone service at exclusive stores for laptop repairs

Asus has introduced Drop Zone services at its exclusive retail stores, allowing customers to drop off laptops for repair without visiting dedicated service centers. The service is available initially at company exclusive stores in Delhi, Kolkata, Nagpur, Mumbai, and Coimbatore, with plans for nationwide expansion. The Drop Zone service streamlines laptop repairs by enabling customers to deposit devices at neighborhood Asus stores rather than traveling to standalone service centers. Store executives conduct initial assessments for physical damage and software issues before coordinating with repair facilities. Customers receive job sheets for tracking and are notified when repairs are complete. "Outstanding product experiences go beyond just innovative designs and cutting-edge technology," said Arnold Su, VP of Consumer and Gaming PC at Asus India . "With the Drop Zone initiative, we're making it easier than ever for customers to keep their laptops in peak condition with easy access." by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Play this game for 1 minute and see why everyone is crazy about it Undo The service initially covers in-warranty Asus laptops through a six-step process including device assessment , repair coordination, and collection notification. Customers must retain job sheets to collect repaired units, following standard service center terms if documentation is lost. Asus operates over 200 service centers across India, covering 14,900 pin codes and 761 districts. The company provides 24/7 support through multiple channels including phone, chat, email, and remote troubleshooting via the MyASUS app. The Drop Zone expansion targets tier-2 and tier-3 cities to improve accessibility. Asus has also launched a service camp in Pune offering on-site diagnostics and expert guidance. The initiatives reflect the Taiwanese tech giant's commitment to comprehensive after-sales support across India's diverse markets. AI Masterclass for Students. Upskill Young Ones Today!– Join Now

Asus ProArt PA32QCV offers 6K clarity and HDR600 without the eye-watering XDR price Factory-calibrated color accuracy claims sound good on paper, but longevity remains an open question HDR10 support and 10-bit color make this panel interesting for high-contrast workflows Asus has announced the ProArt Display PA32QCV, a 6K-resolution business monitor aimed at creative professionals who require accurate color and sharp detail. Priced at $1,299, it undercuts Apple's $4,999 Pro Display XDR while targeting similar use cases in media production. The PA32QCV delivers 6K visuals at 6016x3384 resolution, producing a pixel density of 218 pixels per inch, more than three times that of a standard 1080p monitor. ProArt PA32QCV brings impressive specs that remain to be tested This device also supports HDR10 and meets the VESA DisplayHDR 600 standard, which allows for brighter highlights, deeper contrast, and are particularly useful when working with high-dynamic-range content. The extra detail helps with crisper text, sharper lines, and more precise visuals. In terms of color accuracy, Asus promises factory-calibrated Delta E<2 performance, backed by Calman Verification. The display covers 98% of the DCI-P3 color space, and it also offers 100% sRGB support and 10-bit depth, delivering over a billion colors. This makes it a strong option for video editing and other color-critical tasks, although how long the factory calibration remains accurate is unclear. The monitor includes dual Thunderbolt 4 ports, supporting data transfer, charging, and video passthrough through a single cable. Other connectivity options include HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 1.4, USB-A, and additional USB-C ports. Auto KVM support adds flexibility, letting users control two connected computers with a single keyboard and mouse. These features suggest it could serve well not only as a display for photo editing but also as a capable all-purpose business monitor. Asus also emphasizes Mac compatibility. macOS users can adjust settings using the DisplayWidget Center app. A new M Model-P3 preset aligns the display's output with macOS devices. Users can change brightness, contrast, and color temperature with a mouse, and MacBook brightness keys can control the monitor directly. This may appeal to Mac-focused creatives, although such software tools often lack long-term support. Asus is promoting a Creative Cloud giveaway with the display in some markets, but the value of bundled software depends on the user's needs. The bigger question is whether this 6K screen, despite its impressive specs, will meet the demands of professionals over time. Xbox tipped to open ROG Ally and Ally X pre-orders at Gamescom — here's what we know

The ability to pick up the Xbox-branded Asus ROG Ally or Ally X may be closer than we thought with a new report claiming you'll be able to pre-order the handheld consoles during Gamescom 2025. According to the French blog, Dealabs, preorders will go live starting on August 20 during an Xbox showcase at the Cologne gaming conference. Gamescom starts on August 20 and runs through the 24th. Microsoft will have a big presence there with the opportunity for people to go hands-on with the consoles, including with a playable demo of the long-awaited 'Hollow Knight: Silksong.' The Xbox broadcast starts at 6am PT / 9am EDT / 2pm BST on Wednesday, August 20. According to Xbox, that broadcast will feature the "ROG Xbox Ally handheld, 'Ground 2,' 'Keeper,' 'Call of Duty: Black Ops 7' and more." Xbox and Asus revealed the handheld consoles at the end of June, but did not provide pricing or release date details. Dealabs reaffirmed an earlier leak from the Spanish Asus store that the devices will be priced at €599 (about $690) for the Xbox Ally and €899 (about $1040) for the Xbox Ally X. Of course, pricing is adjusted depending on the region, and tariffs may raise those numbers higher in the United States. Either way, these consoles will feature a premium-price. Current rumors place the Xbox Ally and Ally X launching in October, and Xbox has said the consoles would be available this "holiday" period. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. Both the ROG Xbox Ally and the ROG Xbox Ally X will be powered by Windows 11 with a custom Xbox "experience" integrated, an aggregated gaming library and access to the full range of PC game stores including GOG and Steam. Of course, they will support Xbox Play Anywhere titles too. The Ally features an AMD Ryzen Z2 A processor and a 16GB of RAM and 512GB of SSD storage. The Ally X gets boosted with an AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme chip, 24GB of RAM and 1TB of SSD storage. The Ally X also features a slightly larger 80Wh, and a couple of extra ports including USB-C with Thunderbolt 4. Stay tuned to the latest from Tom's Guide as we're quite eager to get the ROG Ally and Ally X for testing as soon as they become available.
