At The Box Office: ‘Our Unwritten Seoul'

COLCHESTER, Vt. (ABC22/FOX44) – This week on 'At The Box Office', film critic Julia Swift watched 'Our Unwritten Seoul', a Korean drama about two sisters that swap lives. Swift said that this is 'by far the best k-drama of the year' despite the fact that there are currently only two episodes out. Why? Those episodes were 'so moving and have stuck in my mind.' This show follows a woman with a corporate job in Seoul, and a sister that works odd-jobs outside of the city. Both have different pressures and expectations in life, which is why they decide to swap careers. Despite the premise, 'There is nothing goofy about this show.' The writer captures sibling dynamics that 'push our buttons' in realistic ways. Additionally, the show gives commentary on capitalistic gain and life satisfaction. 'It's a special show,' Swift concluded. Anyone interested can catch up on 'Our Unwritten Seoul' before the next batch of episodes premier on Netflix. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. At The Box Office: ‘Lilo & Stitch'

COLCHESTER, Vt. (ABC22/FOX44) – This week on 'At The Box Office', film critic Julia Swift reviewed the new live-action 'Lilo & Stitch', a remake of the 2002 animated film. Swift has admittingly never seen the full film, so she went in 'with completely fresh eyes.' Generally speaking though, there was a variety of comedic and emotional experiences in the film that Swift appreciated. Not all of the jokes, however, made her 'laugh out loud'. 'When it's emotional it's really wonderful, when it's funny it's just okay.' Swift attributes this to the actors in the film, specifically the young actress who plays Lilo. Having a better balance of older characters with such a young actor, who plays a vital role, could have made the film more entertaining. While the technical team 'could have done so much more,' Swift still thinks this will dominate the box office. Despite its flaws, 'Lilo & Stitch' is still a fun film. Anyone interested in seeing the film can check it out in theatres now. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. At The Box Office: ‘Murderbot'

COLCHESTER, Vt. (ABC22/FOX44) – This week on 'At The Box Office' film critic Julia Swift talked about 'Murderbot', a series that follows a security robot in space as it gains free will and learns more about itself. Despite the name, this series was a 'fun and light' watch for Swift. She notes that the show is about 'a robot who can murder, but who chooses to save people instead.' While the show has violent moments, they appear more goofy than gory and disturbing. The setting of this other world, particularly with characters attempting to start a hippie commune, also adds to the less-violent 'vibes' of the series. At The Box Office: 'Luz' This series has some other great elements. Swift specifically highlights the relationships this titular robot creates with the cast. 'It's a really wonderful relationship that we see develop between him and these characters.' Swift's biggest critique, though, is the pacing. Watchers just have to give the story some time to grow. Still, anyone interested in watching 'Murderbots' can check it out on AppleTV+. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. At The Box Office: ‘Watch the Skies'

COLCHESTER, Vt. (ABC22/FOX44) – This week on 'At The Box Office', Julia Swift discussed 'Watch the Skies', a Swedish movie that follows a teen and a UFO club. One of the strongest aspects of this film is that we follow club characters 'that we really grow to care about,' according to Swift. She describes the first half of this experience as 'charming'. Swift also notes that the main actress is strong and has a good dynamic with the cast. While the second half sort of 'falls apart', Swift says that this film still remains 'unabashedly sincere', which makes it worth seeing. Behind the scenes, 'Watch the Skies' was made by a five-person collective, meaning there is not one single director. The movie also tried some new technology for dubbing, and attempted to use computer models to aid in matching lips with the actors' translated lines. Those interested in checking out 'Watch the Skies' can see it at AMC theatres. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. At The Box Office: ‘Another Simple Favor'

COLCHESTER, Vt. (ABC22/FOX44) – This week on At The Box Office, film critic Julia Swift talked about 'Another Simple Favor', the sequel to 'A Simple Favor'. The original film followed two characters played by Anna Kendrick and Blake lively. While the the original film, which followed Kendrick's character as she unravels mysteries and secrets about the person she thought she knew. Swift said it was 'empowering, fun and sexy.' This sequel film, however, is 'none of those things.' While it has the same director, and some of the same writers, Swift found the film disappointing. 'The script is where everything really falls apart,' she noted. This 'bonkers script' doesn't catch you up on important details from the previous movie, which is crucial in a sequel. Swift says that its 'a shame' that this movie isn't of the same quality. If you want to check out the amazing costume designs though, watch 'Another Simple Favor' on Amazon Prime Video.
