At The Box Office: ‘Watch the Skies'

Yahoo09-05-2025

COLCHESTER, Vt. (ABC22/FOX44) – This week on 'At The Box Office', Julia Swift discussed 'Watch the Skies', a Swedish movie that follows a teen and a UFO club.
One of the strongest aspects of this film is that we follow club characters 'that we really grow to care about,' according to Swift. She describes the first half of this experience as 'charming'.
Swift also notes that the main actress is strong and has a good dynamic with the cast.
While the second half sort of 'falls apart', Swift says that this film still remains 'unabashedly sincere', which makes it worth seeing.
Behind the scenes, 'Watch the Skies' was made by a five-person collective, meaning there is not one single director. The movie also tried some new technology for dubbing, and attempted to use computer models to aid in matching lips with the actors' translated lines.
Those interested in checking out 'Watch the Skies' can see it at AMC theatres.

Where Taylor Swift and Blake Lively's Friendship Stands After Justin Baldoni Dropped Subpoena Against Singer (Exclusive Source)

Taylor Swift and Blake Lively's friendship dates back to 2015 The pair's friendship has been strained since the singer was dragged into the Justin Baldoni legal drama Lively filed a complaint against her 'It Ends With Us' director and co-star in December 2024Taylor Swift and Blake Lively have made progress in their relationship. The pop superstar, 35, and the actress are working towards being "on good terms," but "their friendship isn't the same as it was before," a source tells PEOPLE exclusively. Swift and Lively, 37, 'aren't as close and haven't been spending as much time together as they did in the past.' The Grammy winner was dragged into the Gossip Girl alum's ongoing legal battle with her It Ends With Us co-star and director Justin Baldoni. PEOPLE previously reported that Swift and Lively rekindled their friendship in April after the 'Fortnight' singer distanced herself from the actress. According to the insider, 'Taylor is working to trust Blake again but it's going to take some time.' The twosome's friendship dates back to 2015 after Lively shared a photo from a L'Oréal campaign, which referenced Swift's 'Bad Blood' music video. It caught Swift's attention, and the pair began spending time together. In December 2024, Lively filed a complaint against Baldoni, 41, alleging that he sexually harassed her on the set of their film adapted from the Colleen Hoover novel of the same name. She further accused him of trying to 'destroy' her reputation with a calculated smear campaign, which was detailed in a New York Times article titled, "'We Can Bury Anyone': Inside a Hollywood Smear Machine." Less than two weeks later, she filed a formal lawsuit against the Jane the Virgin alum, accusing him of sexual harassment, breach of contract, infliction of emotional distress and invasion of privacy. However, Baldoni denied all her accusations and filed his own $400 million defamation and extortion lawsuit against Lively, Ryan Reynolds, and their PR team. In Baldoni's countersuit, he claimed Swift was present at a meeting that took place at Lively's New York City penthouse, where he and the actress allegedly met to go over her rewrite of their movie's rooftop scene. Baldoni claimed that during their meeting, Lively attempted to intimidate him by using her relationships with Reynolds and Swift, calling them 'absolute titans' as writers and storytellers. He claimed she further said, 'I'm so lucky to have them as creative barometers,' and they are her 'dragons' who protect her in her battles. Baldoni suggested that Lively was referring to Swift when he texted the actress about her script revisions, writing, 'I really love what you did. It really does [help] a lot. Makes it so much more fun and interesting. (And I would have felt that way without Ryan and Taylor).' The trial for Lively v. Wayfarer Studios et al., which will cover both lawsuits, is scheduled for March 2026. Read the original article on People

Taylor Swift ‘working to trust' Blake Lively after Justin Baldoni subpoena

NEW YORK — Sources are shedding light on the state of Taylor Swift's fractured decade-long friendship with Blake Lively after the pop star was dragged into the actress' messy legal battle with Justin Baldoni. Swift was subpoenaed in May to serve as a witness in the case, with Baldoni's legal team saying she potentially had information regarding the behind-the-scenes drama on 'It Ends With Us.' Despite the subpoena being dropped weeks later, an insider told People that the Grammy winner, 35, is still 'working to trust Blake again' and that it's 'going to take some time.' Lively filed a lawsuit in late December accusing her 'It Ends With Us' director and co-star of sexual harassment while working on the film and a subsequent smear campaign. Baldoni in January filed a $400 million defamation countersuit against Lively, her husband Ryan Reynolds and publicist Leslie Sloane, also accusing them of civil extortion. Months later, Baldoni's lawyers subpoenaed Swift, specifically citing her presence at a heated meeting over rewrites to the script and texts that Lively sent in which she allegedly referred to her friend as one of her 'dragons.' People's source said that Lively and Swift — the godmother to Lively's children — 'haven't been spending as much time together as they did in the past,' prior to the lawsuit, though the longtime besties are trying to get 'on good terms.' In the days after the subpoena was initially filed, an insider told Us Weekly that Swift and Lively had spoken but the relationship was 'strained.' The outlet subsequently reported that Swift had 'begun to distance herself' and that mutual friend Gigi Hadid had 'naturally done the same' amid the legal and publicity warfare.

Eat Popcorn Out of Galactus' Big Ol' Head at AMC Theaters

Soon, you can buy Galactus' giant noggin overflowing with popcorn. Coming in at 17.5 inches tall and 20 inches wide, that's a lot of handfuls to get you through all of The Fantastic Four: First Steps, the credits, and of course—any post-credit scenes in this summer's Marvel Studios release. Check out the teaser for the popcorn bucket! Fair warning for those of you looking to go in blind to the movie, there are some minor sizzle clips of footage from The Fantastic Four: First Steps. I'm excited for this giant 'vessel'—though it's a missed opportunity to feature Galactus holding a cracked-open planet—especially since I've been on the hunt for one big enough to be a cool-looking recycling bin for my car. Hey, it's practical and about time to retire my Ghostbusters ghost (trash) trap. Additionally AMC Theaters will also be featuring another mega snack container in the form of HERBIE. The unofficial member of the Fantastic Four family can join yours as not only a popcorn receptacle, but also a candy holder with a sippy drink head. The ambitious 3-in-1 robotic snackage companion looks really cute but we don't want to ruin the build with soda syrup; it kinda seems like a bad idea to just let gunk seep into the cracks. Maybe it should have just had a cup holder molded into the back of the head. Take a look at the two exciting popcorn bucket upgrades and the rest of AMC's line up which includes character cups and popcorn tins. The Fantastic Four: First Steps opens in theaters July 25.
