California Imam Tarik Ata on DC Shooting of Israeli Staffers: Politicians Expressing Outrage Are Privately Pleased — It Strengthens Their Narrative; They've Been Chosen by the Devil, Not God

In a Friday sermon delivered at the Orange County Islamic Foundation in California on May 23, 2025, Imam Tarik Ata discussed the Capital Jewish Museum attack, in which two Israeli embassy staffers were killed. He qualified that it is against the law to do something like that, 'even if they are employed by an entity that is the worst of the worst.' Ata said that he expects politicians who have expressed outrage over the murder and claimed it was an expression of antisemitism to be privately pleased with the attack, saying: 'This is exactly what we needed,' because it strengthens their narrative. He asked them to spare the outrage, saying it is nothing more than an attempt to gain political leverage, because they are 'the most inhumane people' on Earth. Although they falsely claim to be God's Chosen People, Ata declared they are, in fact, the 'Devil's Chosen People.' Earlier, on October 28, 2023, Ata asserted that the October 7 attack did not happen in a vacuum, insisting that Palestinians did not cross into Israel and start killing people unprovoked. He further claimed that Jews have forfeited their right to the land due to disbelief in the Prophet Muhammad
