Church of Pakistan leads patriotic march backing armed forces

Listen to article The Church of Pakistan organised a powerful and passionate rally in Lahore to express unwavering solidarity with the valiant Pakistan Armed Forces. Hundreds of patriotic Christians, including clergy, laypersons, and a large number of women gathered at the Lahore Press Club to raise their voices in unity. From there, the charged and spirited rally marched through Egerton Road, culminating at Charing Cross, Mall Road, with full zeal and national fervour. With flags waving high and voices echoing in unison, the participants fervently chanted patriotic slogans in support of our brave defenders. The rally was a bold and clear message: Pakistan's minorities stand shoulder to shoulder with the armed forces, ready to defend the nation's honour and integrity at every front. This historic event showcased the Christian community's deep-rooted love for Pakistan and reaffirmed their unwavering commitment to the country's unity, peace, and security. Earlier, the military assured senior political leaders that Pakistan's armed forces are fully prepared to give a befitting response to the enemy if it dared any aggression against Pakistan, sources said on Sunday after an in-camera briefing to political parties. The session was arranged by the government, where Information Minister Ata Tarar and Director General of Inter-Service Public Relations (ISPR) Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry briefed the politicians about the ongoing escalation between Pakistan and India following the April 22 Pahalgam attack. "Pakistan is a peaceful country and desires regional stability," a source quoted the ISPR chief as telling the meeting. "But if aggression is imposed on us, the armed forces are ready to give a befitting reply to the enemy," Gen Chaudhry said.

Photo: Express Listen to article The military on Sunday assured senior political leaders that Pakistan's armed forces are fully prepared to give a befitting response to the enemy if it dared any aggression against Pakistan, sources said on Sunday after an in-camera briefing to political parties. Tensions between the nuclear-armed neighbours escalated after the April 22 attack on tourists in the scenic resort town of Pahalgam in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), which left at least 26 people dead. India blamed Pakistan for the incident and took a series of punitive actions, including suspending the Indus Water Treaty (IWT), closing the Wagah-Attari border and Pakistan High Commission in Delhi, revoking visas, and other retaliatory steps. Pakistan has strongly rejected the allegations and responded with reciprocal measures, including closure of its airspace to Indian aircraft, suspension of trade, and additional diplomatic actions. Against this backdrop, the in-camera session focused on national security issues, the sources said. The DG ISPR briefed the participants about the preparations of the army after India's false flag operation in Pahalgam, while Ata Tarar highlighted Pakistan's diplomatic outreach to international stakeholders. Following the session, political leaders from across the spectrum expressed full support for the armed forces and affirmed national unity in the face of external threats. The meeting was attended by Ali Haider Gilani of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), former Azad Kashmir prime minister Sardar Atiq, Noor Alam Khan of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry, Minister of State Khel Das, and Minister of State Barrister Aqeel Malik. Others who participated in the session included Mohsin Shahnawaz Ranjha, Health Minister Mustafa Kamal, Minister of State Amir Muqam, Minister of State Bilal Azhar Kayani, PPP's Qamar Zaman Kaira, former Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) chief minister Mahmood Khan, Sindh ministers Nasir Shah, Sharjeel Memon and Saeed Ghani, PPP-Parliamentarians Information Secretary Shazia Marri, and Special Assistant to Prime Minister Shahbaz Badar.

Trump-backed crypto firm joins hands with Pakistan Crypto Council to boost blockchain innovation

In a key move in the development of Pakistan's financial technology sector, the Pakistan Crypto Council (PCC) and World Liberty Financial (WLF) officially signed a series of agreements aimed at promoting investment and innovation in the crypto industry. The signing ceremony held on Saturday was attended by Minister for Information Ata Tarar, CEO of Pakistan Crypto Council Bilal Bin Saeed, the WLF co-chairman Zack Vetkoff and other officials. According to a press statement by the finance ministry, the US delegation comprised Zachary Folkman, Chase Herro and Zachary Witkoff, the son of Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff. '(The) WLF ... has signed a landmark Letter of Intent with the PCC to accelerate blockchain innovation, stablecoin adoption and decentralised finance integration across Pakistan,' it stated. The delegation also met the prime minister, chief of army staff, deputy prime minister, information and defence ministers to formalise cooperation, 'marking a major step toward positioning Pakistan as a global leader in the digital finance revolution'. The agreements are expected to facilitate greater cooperation between the two organisations, foster innovation in the crypto space, and encourage international investment in Pakistan's digital economy. Speaking to the media, the dignitaries highlighted the importance of the agreements and the growing potential of the crypto market in Pakistan. Tarar emphasised that the establishment of the Pakistan Crypto Council marks a pivotal step towards embracing emerging technologies. "Pakistan offers tremendous opportunities in the crypto sector," he said. "Despite being a relatively new player, Pakistan has made remarkable progress in a short span of time." He further noted that Pakistan presents attractive investment opportunities across various sectors, and initiatives like these will help accelerate economic growth and technological advancement. Meanwhile, Vetkoff praised Pakistan's economic potential, stating, "Pakistan is one of the fastest-emerging economies. We are excited to be part of its journey towards a vibrant financial future." Dawn reported that the WLF is a decentralised finance platform backed by President Donald Trump to advance cryptocurrency applications and boost blockchain adoption. Trump and his affiliates hold a 60 per cent stake in WLF, which launched last year. The US president has promised to regulate the industry favourably and his administration has eased enforcement actions against several big industry players. According to the ministry statement, the agreement came as the government signalled plans to announce comprehensive crypto legalisation policies soon, to bolster 'Pakistan's position as one of the fastest-growing crypto markets in the world'. 'The scope of cooperation between (the) PCC and WLF outlines collaboration in key areas including: launching regulatory sandboxes for blockchain financial product testing; facilitating the responsible growth of DeFi (decentralised finance) protocols". "Exploring [the] tokenisation of real-world assets like real estate and commodities; expanding stablecoin applications for remittances and trade; and providing strategic advisory on blockchain infrastructure and global regulatory trends,' the press release reads.
