This could lead to power cuts, delays and cancellations to bus and ferry timetables and dangerous conditions for anyone driving on the roads. Ms Nasir said: "Just look at this rain for Friday. "It is going to be persistent, some high rainfall totals accompanied by a strong wind. 'Across Scotland and Northern Ireland, you will fall under the influence of an Atlantic Air Mass. Clare Nasir A yellow 'be aware' warning from the Met Office covers Central, Tayside and Fife, Highlands and Islands and western districts of Strathclyde. This will also include Perth and Kinross, Stirling, Argyll and Bute, Inverclyde, North Ayrshire, Renfrewshire and West Dunbartonshire. It will come into effect at 6am tomorrow and last until 3pm on Saturday. The warning states: "Persistent, heavy rain on Friday and Saturday brings difficult travel conditions and possible flooding in places. "Bus and train services will probably be affected with journey times taking longer. "Some interruption to power supplies and other services is possible. "Rain is expected to be persistent, and heavy at times, during much of Friday and overnight, before slowly easing later on Saturday. 'Between 40 and 60 mm (more than 2 inches) of rain is expected to build up quite widely with in excess of 100 mm (4 inches) over a few mountains. 'Rain will be accompanied by windy conditions, especially Friday daytime when gusts will reach 40 to 50 mph around coasts and hills.'
