Patti LuPone Apology For New Yorker Comments

Hell truly hath frozen over: Patti LuPone is apologizing for something — specifically, her controversial New Yorker profile comments. Brief recap if you need it: In the profile, interviewer Michael Schulman asked Patti about her conflict with Hell's Kitchen star Kecia Lewis. Last year, Kecia shared an "open letter" to Patti on IG accusing her of being "racially microaggressive" in several instances which Patti complained about the volume of Hell's Kitchen performances during her performance in The Roommate, which shared a wall with the Hell's Kitchen theater. Patti's response was, honestly, terrible. "She calls herself a veteran? Let's find out how many Broadway shows Kecia Lewis has done, because she doesn't know what the fuck she's talking about," she said. "She's done seven. I've done 31. Don't call yourself a vet, bitch!" Things got even worse when Michael pointed out to Patti that Broadway legend Audra McDonald had responded supportively to Kecia's IG post. "Exactly," she said. "And I thought, 'You should know better.' That's typical of Audra." Patti went on to say that Audra is "not a friend," and claimed that the conflict between the two goes back a bit. When Michael asked Patti about Audra's recent performance in Gypsy, which gained her a 11th Tony nomination — making her the most nominated performer in the awards' history — Patti reportedly stared in silence for 15 seconds before turning to a nearby window and sighing, "What a beautiful day." Y-I-K-E-S. Patti's behavior offended a lot of people. Yesterday, over 500 Broadway artists signed an open letter calling out the "racialized disrespect" of Patti's comments, and making an open plea for Patti to be disinvited from this year's Tony Awards. Since getting disinvited to a party is a fate worse than death for most famous people, Patti is now taking back her words and actions. "For as long as I have worked in the theatre, I have spoken my mind and never apologized," she said in a statement sent to BuzzFeed. "That is changing today." "I am deeply sorry for the words I used during The New Yorker interview, particularly about Kecia Lewis, which were demeaning and disrespectful. I regret my flippant and emotional responses during this interview, which were inappropriate, and I am devastated that my behavior has offended others and has run counter to what we hold dear in this community. I hope to have the chance to speak to Audra and Kecia personally to offer my sincere apologies." "I wholeheartedly agree with everything that was written in the open letter shared yesterday. From middle school drama clubs to professional stages, theatre has always been about lifting each other up and welcoming those who feel they don't belong anywhere else. I made a mistake, I take full responsibility for it, and I am committed to making this right. Our entire theatre community deserves better." OK then!

I can't help but think The Young and the Restless' Kyle and Claire are about to experience some infidelity

As if it weren't enough that The Young and the Restless' Kyle (Michael Mealor) and Claire (Hayley Erin) were having to contend with Victor's (Eric Braeden) interference and Summer (Allison Lanier) looming around offscreen, I can't help but think the happy couple has some infidelity in their near future. If you've been keeping up with the episodes, you're probably thinking I'm referring to Kyle and Audra (Zuleyka Silver). Thanks to Victor's enticing offer, Audra has made it her mission to destroy #Kylaire, and at Victor's suggestion, it seems as if Audra is willing to achieve that mission by enticing him a bit, using their past chemistry as bait. While I was initially side-eyeing the prospect of Audra using her powers of seduction, that changed when Holden (Nathan Owens) astutely pointed out that it appears Audra may still have lingering feelings for Kyle. Sure, she's been livid with him for getting her fired from Glissade and she thinks of him as an entitled brat, but their banter isn't completely of the 'I hate you' variety. Thinking about this, their vibe actually reminds me of Niles (Daniel Davis) and C.C. (Lauren Lane) on The Nanny or Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie in Mr. & Mrs. Smith. Kyle and Audra straddle the line of wanting to metaphorically strangle each other, but perhaps they secretly see the banter as foreplay. Now I recently predicted that Audra and Kyle would find themselves having drinks soon, and in a moment of drunkenness, they would hook up. But perhaps I'm wrong. In fact, I'm starting to think Claire may actually find herself hooking up with Holden. I can imagine a scenario in which Claire spots Kyle and Audra in a compromising position and assumes the worst, believing they hit the sheets. Then, a distraught Claire goes to the Athletic Club, where she runs into Holden, and he offers her a listening ear and a few Vespers. The two have had nothing but friendly interactions so far, but who's to say a heartbroken Claire won't decide to have some fun with the handsome newcomer? To add, if Claire tells Holden that something happened between Kyle and Audra, Holden may find himself a little heartbroken. He's not so secretly been pining away for Ms. Charles, so he might find comfort in Claire as much as she'd find comfort in him. Not for nothing, I like the idea of a Kyle and Claire pairing. To be clear, this is all speculation from my part. But the wheels of this #Kylaire train seem primed to fall off soon. New episodes of The Young and the Restless air weekdays on CBS. Episodes become available to stream on Paramount Plus the next day.

The Young and the Restless spoilers: Holden tips the scales in the Audra and Kyle feud?

When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. Although The Young and the Restless' Holden (Nathan Owens) may not be the most popular new kid on the block, we tend to appreciate his charming allure and his knack for getting a rise out of Audra (Zuleyka Silver) and Lily (Christel Khalil). Honing in on his dynamic with Audra, it doesn't exactly take a PhD to see that Holden still has feelings for her, and she reluctantly still has a thing for him, despite her objections to the contrary and her relationship with Nate (Sean Dominic). Whatever the extent of their relationship was in LA, Audra and Holden clearly had a deep connection back then, and he aided her out of her 'LA trouble' because he likely loved her. And yet in the present, Audra continues to treat him with animosity whenever they bump into each other in Genoa City. Fast forward to The Young and the Restless episode airing on May 20, and Audra again spots Holden out and about town, this time chatting it up with Kyle (Michael Mealor) at Society. She's not pleased to see her exes talking over Vespers and rushes over to interrupt their conversation, thinking she's the topic being discussed. Funny enough, though, she becomes the topic after butting in. Holden reveals to Kyle that he knew Audra back in LA and they were 'pretty close for a while.' Kyle reveals to Holden that he worked with Audra for a short while at a failed cosmetic company. Additionally, Kyle delivers the news that Audra is starting the new cosmetic business, Vibrante. After all the information is exchanged, Kyle leaves with his takeout order, smiling because he knows new information about Audra. Alone with Audra, Holden astutely points out that her falling out with Kyle is about more than professional. She, of course, notes that her past with Kyle is none of Holden's business, and he responds by asserting he knows he sees sparks still flying between her and Kyle. With all that being said, we have a hunch that Holden will soon insert himself in this covert war between Audra and Kyle. Holden has taken an interest in the duo's dynamic, and he's not above manipulation, proven by his identity swap con with Damian (Jermaine Rivers). If we're correct, then we have to question whose side Holden may take. Our first inclination is to say Holden would back Audra. He has history with her and still loves her. However, Audra's harsh tone with him lately and her repeatedly telling him they aren't friends and to but out of her life, probably doesn't put him in a mood to aid her in anything. But if she were really savvy, she'd see Holden as an asset in breaking up Kyle and Claire (Hayley Erin), as she'd try to exploit Holden's newfound friendship with Claire to possibly lure the Newman heiress away, while Audra goes after Kyle. Even if Audra were to think of this approach, she'd have to butter Holden up and offer him something big for his help, something like a job at Vibrante. Now it's just as easy to picture Kyle enticing Holden to come work for him against Audra. Kyle could reiterate to Holden that Audra clearly broke his heart and used him, so Holden doesn't owe any loyalty to her. Kyle could also offer him a lucrative position at Jabot for his help. For now, we just have predictions about Holden being a wildcard for Kyle and Audra, but it makes sense to us, especially if a job is being teased. Not for nothing, we have a feeling Damian will soon be out with Aristotle Dumas, so Holden could be in need of a new career if Aristotle doesn't see fit to replace Damian with Holden. New episodes of The Young and the Restless air weekdays on CBS. Episodes become available to stream on Paramount Plus the next day.

3 Young and the Restless Couples Who Are Headed for a Summer Breakup

Summertime is approaching on The Young and the Restless. While it's usually a season for passionate romances, this year it's going to be one of heartbreak. Here's a look at a few Genoa City couples who might not make it through the summer. Young lovers Kyle (Michael Mealor) and Claire (Hayley Erin) have become a main focus of the show. With their families feuding, they've been touted as Y&R's version of Romeo and Juliet. Yet, despite objections and interference from Victor (Eric Braeden), their relationship is still going strong. However, that all will change with their latest obstacle. Victor has enlisted the help of Audra (Zuleyka Silver) to break up his granddaughter's relationship. Audra is working her magic on Kyle by taunting him with her new business venture. Kyle being an opportunist sees this as a way to gain intel to help Jabot. Yet, his plan to cozy up to Audra could backfire, costing him his girlfriend. Mariah (Camryn Grimes) and Tessa (Cait Fairbanks) aka Teriah are front and center in a new storyline. Unfortunately, it's not one that Teriah fans aren't happy with. Mariah's keeping a secret from Tessa that could destroy their marriage. Whatever happened on Mariah's trip is making her feel guilty and creating distance between her and Tessa. As distance grows between the couple, it leaves the door open for Tessa to grow closer to Daniel (Michael Graziadei). Audra had finally turned over a new leaf when she began dating Nate (Sean Dominic). But now she stands to lose her beau when she reverts back to her bad girl ways. Audra is eager to return to the corporate world, and Victor's offer was too good to pass up. Not only will she get funding for her company, but she'll also get her long-awaited revenge on Kyle. Yet, Audra's scheme might cost her the one man who loves her. Audra is willing to do whatever it takes to keep her end of the deal. Her business venture relies on breaking up Kyle and Claire's relationship. Audra might take things too far and betray Nate, who warned her about accepting Victor's offer.

Young and the Restless Spoilers: Will Kyle Outsmart Audra Or Is He in Over His Head?

As the drama unfolds on The Young and the Restless this Monday, May 26, fans can expect tension and power plays to dominate the screen. Kyle Abbott and Audra Charles meet for a drink that's anything but casual, while Diane braces herself for a long-awaited homecoming that could stir old tensions. Audra (Zuleyka Silver) and Kyle (Michael Mealor) follow through on their drink date, first teased in the May 23 episode. Despite Diane's (Susan Walters) warning, Kyle moves ahead—curious about the secrets Audra might spill and determined to stay a step ahead. His goal? Beat Audra at her own game. But as the two meet at the GCAC jazz lounge and begin discussing cosmetic company strategies, it becomes clear that Kyle might be out of his depth. Even with insider tips from Claire Newman (Hayley Erin), Kyle appears uncertain about a deal Audra pitches—one she insists could benefit them both. A teaser clip from the Y&R preview shows Kyle clearly skeptical, raising the question: Is Kyle trying to manipulate Audra, or is he being played himself? Meanwhile, Diane's storyline takes a more personal turn. With Traci (Beth Maitland) and Ashley (Eileen Davidson) returning during the week of May 26-30, she anxiously awaits their response to the Abbott mansion renovations. Although Jack (Peter Bergman) and Kyle approved her changes, Billy (Jason Thompson) voiced strong opposition, accusing her of wiping away John Abbott's legacy. Diane's nerves may be justified, as spoilers hint that Traci is left 'speechless' upon seeing the new look—though whether that's good or bad remains to be seen. With power dynamics shifting and emotional stakes rising, Monday's episode sets the stage for a dramatic week on The Young and the Restless. Will Kyle prove himself capable in this high-stakes game with Audra, or is he being played by someone savvier? And can Diane find peace within her new home—or will her efforts backfire? One thing's for sure: viewers won't want to miss a minute.
