[WATCH: In the video player above, learn about Ohio's 10 most dangerous highways.] CANTON, Ohio (WJW) – Two people have died after Canton police report a Volkswagen Golf travelling at a 'very high rate of speed' struck a Nissan Altima near 4th Street NW and Wertz Avenue NW. The crash happened at about 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 7. Remains found in search for missing teen last seen at airport According to police, both vehicles were traveling on Wertz Avenue. The Golf was heading northbound when it hit the Altima, which was traveling southbound, attempting to turn eastbound onto 4th Street NW, said police. 'The driver of the Golf was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Canton Fire Department. The driver of the Altima was transported by the Canton Fire Department to Aultman Hospital where she later succumb to her injuries,' states a press release. Nationwide recall of Zicam® and Orajel™ products The driver of the Golf has been identified as Christopher Siple Jr., 41, of Canton. The driver of Altima has been identified as Dai'sha Wise, 28, of Canton. The Canton Metro Crash Team responded and is investigating the accident, according to police. CANTON ‒ Police are searching for the suspect in Thursday night's fatal shooting of 21-year-old city resident Stephon J. Dunn. Police Chief John Gabbard said in a prepared statement that the suspect is Malachi L. Fortner, 18, of Canton. Gabbard said Dunn appeared to have been shot in the back in the 1500 block of Clarendon Avenue SW. Dunn, of 14th Street NW, did not appear to be conscious or breathing when officers found him lying in a front yard at 8:51 p.m. One officer performed CPR on the victim. A man told police that while he was arguing with the victim, he heard a "pop" noise and the victim fell to the ground. A woman at the scene told police the suspected shooter left southbound in a silver Ford Fusion. Another witness said that after the victim was shot, he walked north in the yard toward a fence, walked back south and collapsed in the yard in front of the door. Bryson Barksdale Sr. case: 3 Canton teens facing murder charges tied to gang-related fatal drive-by shooting The first call about the shooting was received at 8:47 p.m. The city's dispatch center received numerous calls about the incident. They had no description of the shooter at the time of call. Canton Fire Department medics took over care of the victim when they arrived. They took Dunn to Aultman Hospital, where he died a short time later. Family members at his home declined to speak to a reporter who visited Friday. Funeral arrangements are pending. The investigation is continuing. Dunn's is the second homicide of the year in Canton. PERRY TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WJW) – The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating after a deadly crash in Stark County on Monday afternoon. The crash happened around 3:11 p.m. on State Route 172, near Perry Drive, in Perry Township. According to state troopers, a 1994 Chevrolet Geo Metro was heading east on State Route 172 when the driver allegedly failed to yield while making a left turn onto Perry Drive. Schools closing, delayed across NE Ohio due to frigid temperatures Investigators said the Geo Metro was struck by a 2019 Chrysler Pacifica heading westbound. The Geo Metro driver, identified as 54-year-old Tracy Broyles of Canton, was taken to Aultman Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. A 26-year-old passenger was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. 'Really dangerous': Officials warn about Lake Erie ice conditions The Pacifica driver, a 33-year-old Franklin woman, and two children were taken to Mercy Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
