Paws & Purpose to highlight K9s, rehabilitation for animals
A Mantua veterinary clinic has planned a celebration to highlight area police and fire K-9s and rehabilitation services for dogs.
Paws & Purpose will run 1:30 to 5 p.m. July 12 at Mantua Veterinary Clinic, 4789 E. High St. The event is sponsored by Mantua Veterinary Clinic and Aurora Animal Care.
Dogs that work with area police and fire departments will be on hand. Among those taking part are K9 Queso of Aurora Police Department, who works with Officer Tony Tritto, school resource officer for Aurora City Schools; and live demonstrations by retired State of Ohio Accelerant Detection K9 Harley and K9 Ciko of the Mantua Police Department.
Free pup cups and ice cream floats, while supplies last, will be available. Dogs are welcome, but must be leashed and cannot disrupt the festivities.
The head of Aurora K9 Fit rehabilitation & wellness and her demo dog Reese will provide an inside look at how fitness and rehab programs help dogs and cats build strength, prevent injury, and recover from surgeries. Portable exercise equipment will be showcased.
Raffle tickets, available in advance at Aurora, Mantua or Streetsboro locations, are $1 apiece or 6 for $5, cash only. All proceeds will be donated to local police K9 units in support of their care. Winners will be drawn at 4:30 p.m. during the event, with winners contacted within two business days.
