Monroe County Sheriff's Office arrests drive-by shooting suspect
MONROE — The Monroe County Sheriff's Office arrested a 15-year-old in a drive-by shooting case that injured two in the 6200 block of Greenwycke Lane at 8:45 p.m. Saturday, May 10. While initially responding to the incident, deputies received the report that a suspect vehicle, a tan sedan with several occupants, was involved and fled the scene. Deputy Austin Graham was the first to arrive in the area and saw a tan 2002 Honda Civic pulling out of Greenwycke Lane and on to South Dixie Highway. A traffic stop was made on the vehicle, but it was discovered that the suspected shooter had exited the car prior to it leaving the scene and had fled on foot. Investigators identified the shooter and detectives obtained a search warrant for the suspect's home in the 6100 Block of Greenwycke Lane. The search warrant was executed and the suspect arrested. "He was lodged at the Monroe County Youth Center on three counts of assault with intent to murder," read the report from the sheriff's office. Two people were struck by gunfire in the incident and transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital. Toledo vehicle pursuit ends in Frenchtown Township. Police still searching for suspects
MONROE COUNTY — Sheriff Troy Goodnough reported a vehicle pursuit and recovery of a stolen vehicle, which started in Toledo but ended in Frenchtown Township in the early hours of Friday morning. According to a release, on Friday, March 7, at 3:14 a.m., Monroe County Central Dispatch advised that up to 15 vehicles had been stolen from an automotive manufacturer in Toledo. Dispatch further reported that several of the stolen vehicles were being pursued northbound on I-75 into Monroe County by the Toledo Police Department. After crossing the state line into Monroe County, Toledo Police continued the pursuit. Monroe County deputies set up along I-75 to assist. As the pursuit reached the Laplaisance Road exit, Deputy Austin Graham picked up the pursuit and took over as the primary unit. The main vehicle being pursued was a black 2025 Dodge Durango, stated the release. The pursuit continued northbound on I-75 as the stolen Durango continuously dodging authorities. The chase continued until the vehicle came to a stop and the lone occupant fled on foot, just north of the Nadeau exit. According to the release, several minutes later, a deputy observed that one of the occupants in a different vehicle matched the description of the suspect who had fled from the stolen Dodge Durango. The second vehicle, a blue Nissan Rogue, fled when a traffic stop was attempted. A second chase ensued along southbound 1-75 to Front Street in Monroe, where the vehicle then drove back onto 1-75, this time going southbound in the northbound lanes of the highway. Monroe Public Safety stop sticks brought the vehicle to a stop. Two occupants of the vehicle, one resembling the original suspect, fled on foot.
