Egypt Postpones Fuel Price Hike Until October

Taarek Refaat The Egyptian government has announced that current fuel prices will remain unchanged until October 2025, maintaining the same levels set in April, as part of efforts to ease financial burdens on citizens. The decision follows directives from Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, who emphasized the importance of supporting households during a period of continued economic challenges. The government previously postponed the scheduled July 2025 meeting of the Automatic Fuel Pricing Committee, extending the existing pricing policy for an additional three months. The move aims to prevent any potential fuel price increases in the third quarter of the year. Officials described the extension as part of a broader economic relief package, designed to mitigate the impact of inflation and maintain stability in basic commodity pricing. The fuel pricing mechanism, typically reviewed quarterly, adjusts prices in line with global oil markets and currency fluctuations.
