It's a boy! Greenville zoo announces birth of giraffe calf
GREENVILLE, S.C. (WSPA) – The Greenville Zoo welcomed a new arrival over the weekend.
The zoo announced Autum, a 19-year-old Masai giraffe gave birth to a healthy baby boy Saturday evening.
Standing at six-foot-and-one-inch tall and weighing 132 pounds, the calf is alert and has been exploring the giraffe barn. The calf is Autumn's seventh child, behind Kiko, Tatu, Kiden, Kellan, Providence and Blossom.
The newborn will remain in the barn with Autumn for now, but Greenville Zoo said he could be ready to step outside and see visitors as early as this week. The zoo will make an announcement before he is put on exhibit.
In the meantime, the zoo has a live stream of the giraffe paddock and barn here.
