AwasPlus Survey: Over 1.6 lakh in need of housing in Prayagraj

The AwasPlus Survey-2025, conducted to identify eligible people under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) in Prayagraj, has been completed. According to district officials, the survey found that 1,63,822 people in the district are in need of housing. Of these, 71,005 individuals submitted applications through the self-assessment process mandated under the scheme, while the departmental survey identified 92,817 people as eligible. The district administration is now verifying the 71,005 self-assessed applicants, officials said. Block-wise evaluation was done by the District Rural Development Agency (DRDA), according to which Koraon development block has the highest number of people eligible (19,588), while Chaka has the lowest (2,049). 'Verification is underway for the AwasPlus survey under the Pradhan Mantri Aawas Yojana, a social welfare programme under the Union ministry of rural development to provide housing for the rural poor. Koraon has the highest demand for housing, while Chaka has the lowest. The report of both self-assessment and departmental survey is being sent to the government. Further action will follow based on official instructions,' Bhupendra Kumar Singh, project director of DRDA (Prayagraj), said. On the instructions of the state government, the AwasPlus survey was started in the district in April and continued till May. The purpose was to cover the people who had been left out under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana despite being eligible, officials said. The policy was explained to the common people and a self-assessment report was sought from them, while the departmental survey was conducted in parallel. Thereafter, the list of eligible people in all 23 blocks was finalised on May 30, they explained.

UP plans to build 60 lakh houses under PM Awas Yojana-Rural

Lucknow: UP plans to construct over 60 lakh houses under the Centre's ambitious PM Awas Yojana-Rural in the 2025-26 fiscal year. Once approved by the Centre, this will be almost twice what the UP govt constructed in 2024-25 financial year—around 37 lakh houses. The fresh projection comes amid the Centre's decision to extend the deadline for the assessment of housing units until May 15. The survey to assess the housing requirement started in Dec 2024 and ended in April 2025. During this period, the department received applications for over 54 lakh houses. Experts said the scheme was being leveraged by the Yogi Adityanath govt to bolster its footprint in rural areas, which are electorally crucial. Launched in Nov 2016, the PMAY-Rural scheme aims to provide housing for the poorest segments of society. Beneficiaries are selected through a three-stage validation process that includes Socio-Economic Caste Census (SECC-2011) and Awas Plus (2018) surveys, Gram Sabha approvals and geo-tagging. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like The Most Remarkable Oscar Outfits Ever Interesticle Undo At least 60% of the target is earmarked for SC and ST households. The fresh data includes over 16 lakh beneficiaries who conducted a self-survey. Officials said surveyors have been told to conduct thorough verification to ensure that no eligible person is left out. Sources said rural development commissioner GS Priyadarshi sent a letter in this regard to all the DMs and chief development officers, instructing them to complete the survey work by May 15. Regarding the Awas Plus survey, instructions have been given for extensive publicity so that all people living in rural areas are aware of it. The process is being reviewed daily at the headquarters level, and instructions are being given to all CDOs and project directors of the district rural development agency from time to time.

2.7L more houses to be built in Raj under PMAY-G

Jaipur: CM Bhajan Lal Sharma Monday announced that the Union ministry of rural development has approved construction of another 2,73,752 houses in Rajasthan under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G). The CM stated that the newly sanctioned houses will benefit families identified in the 2018 Awas Plus survey, many of whom waited for permanent housing for over six years. "This is a significant moment. Families that awaited homes since 2018 will finally see their dream of owning a pucca house come true," said Sharma. Of the 22.23 lakh homes previously sanctioned to the state, nearly 20 lakh have already been built. With this new allotment, Rajasthan is among the top five states in implementing the Union govt's flagship rural housing scheme. The first instalment of financial assistance is expected soon, as the state's rural development department has instructed all district collectors to start disbursing funds and issue formal approvals to eligible families.
