‘Next, he'll ask us to eat virtually': Jitendra Awhad mocks Nitesh Rane's comment on eco-friendly Bakrid
NEW DELHI: Maharashtra minister Nitesh Rane stirred controversy with his remarks questioning why those advocating eco-friendly Diwali and Holi do not ask Muslims to perform virtual sacrifices on Bakrid . In response, NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar faction) leader Jitendra Awhad hit back sharply, mocking Rane's suggestion. 'He has become a very technologically advanced minister of Maharashtra. It's a good thought. Tomorrow, he will ask everyone to have food also virtually... let's prepare to eat food also virtually,' Awhad said in a sarcastic tone while speaking to reporters in Mumbai on Tuesday. Rane's remark sparks political exchange Rane had earlier said, 'Why do those people who constantly ask everyone to celebrate eco-friendly Diwali and Holi remain silent on Bakrid? Why don't they ask Muslims to cut Bakra virtually and celebrate environment-friendly Bakrid?' His comment drew strong reactions from opposition leaders and civil society groups, who accused him of targeting a particular community and stoking religious tensions. Awhad's sarcastic rebuttal questioned the logic behind applying virtual or eco-friendly norms selectively to festivals. 'If he wants to go virtual, why stop at Bakrid? Let's all eat and live virtually,' he quipped.

BJP, NCP-SP independently raise concerns over cluster development project in Thane
NCP-SP MLA Jitendra Awhad THANE: BJP and NCP-SP MLAs independently raised concerns over the execution of Cluster Development project in Thane , questioning the if it was being designed to benefit real estate developers. NCP-SP MLA Jitendra Awhad took to social media, questioning whether efforts were underway to channel large tracts of land into the hands of two prominent developers. 'I suspect the Cluster Development project is being misused to favour two of India's top 100 richest developers, with the Thane Municipal Corporation helping them move into the top 20. These developers are already buying large parcels in Thane's central zones. Their names will be out soon,' Awhad posted cryptically on social media. Awhad claimed that even as thousands of families await homes promised through the Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) in the city, the focus of the Thane corporation seems to have shifted to cluster development, he said fearing the fate of these residents who might end up getting a raw deal. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Trade Bitcoin & Ethereum – No Wallet Needed! IC Markets Start Now Undo BJP MLA Sanjay Kelkar also raised similar concerns, noting how builders were approaching residents directly about Cluster projects, while civic authorities remained behind the curtains. He also pointed out that with no Cluster project complete in Thane yet, the lack of clarity regarding rehabilitation and the entire process being churned out by a few developers was leaving prospective stakeholders - residents - confused about the entire process. 'How can developers approach residents directly? This could disrupt the initiatives of the Devendra Fadnavis govt that okayed the much-delayed and ambitious cluster redevelopment for Thane residents living in illegal, unsafe buildings,' Kelkar said. Additional Municipal Commissioner Prashant Rode stated that no formal complaints were received from residents but assured that any issues would be addressed. 'We are committed to benefiting residents and following the mandate from the Urban Development Department. We will act on any complaints we receive,' Rode said.
