Lewisham knife attack: Two arrests after young man stabbed to death in New Cross

Two people have been arrested after a young man was stabbed to death at a home in Lewisham. The Metropolitan Police was called to reports of a male with stab wounds at a residential address in Monson Road, New Cross, at 7.26pm on Saturday. Officers attended with the London Ambulance Service and medics from the London Air Ambulance, who provided emergency medical care. Despite their efforts, Ayowale Aledejana, 26, of South Norwood, near Croydon, died at the scene. His family are being supported by officers. A man and woman, both 23, remain in custody on suspicion of murder. Detective Chief Inspector Lucie Card, who is leading the investigation, said: 'Our thoughts are with Ayowale's family and friends at this difficult time. 'I understand this incident will be concerning and we are carrying out a fast-paced and thorough investigation to establish the circumstances. 'I would encourage anyone who has not yet spoken to us to do so.' Paramedics treated 26-year-old Ayowale Aledejana of South Norwood, Croydon who died at the scene from his injuries. His family has been informed. A second person, a 23-year-old woman, has been arrested on suspicion of murder, along with a 23-year-old man who was arrested earlier today. Both remain in police custody. A man who was stabbed to death in New Cross has been named and pictured for the first time. Ayowale Aledejana, from South Norwood in Croydon, was found with stab wounds in a house on Monson Avenue yesterday evening (August 2). Police were called around 7.30pm and arrived with the ambulance service. Despite attempts to save his life, 26-year-old Ayowale died at the scene.
