Archana Puran Singh backs nepotism. 'People in Bollywood want to work with actors from film families ...'

Agencies Archana Puran Singh wit her son Ayushmaan. The debate around nepotism in Bollywood continues to be a hot-button topic. Veteran actress Archana Puran Singh recently added her own insights to this controversial subject in a chat with superstar Ajay Devgn. Singh, whose sons Aryamann and Ayushmaan are aspiring actors, maintained that in certain cases, nepotism has its advantages. She argued that kids of industry insiders have an edge over outsiders, as they are trained in professional ethics and know-how by their families. 'One of the reasons people in the film industry prefer to work with actors from film families is because when your parents are already part of the industry, they instill a sense of professional ethics in you from the beginning,' she whose father, Veeru Devgn, was an esteemed action director, seconded her thoughts but acknowledged that some outsiders do possess immense talent. However, he argued that many people have a wrong perception of the industry and how it operates. He said that even though star kids and children of producers may have an advantage of knowing the right people and getting a head start in the business, stardom is not guaranteed for them, and they don't have control over how the audience perceives them. 'You can't become a star on Day One. You have to first learn how to act. That's where some confusion begins. People outside the industry often think this business operates in a certain way, but it's not like that. In the end, it all comes down to your hard work,' he said. Nepotism remains a relevant subject as several star kids, such as Saif Ali Khan's son Ibrahim, Sridevi's younger daughter Khushi, Aamir Khan's son Junaid, and Chunky Pandey's nephew Ahaan, made their theatrical debut this year. Among them, only Ahaan has emerged successful, as his debut venture—the romantic drama 'Saiyaara'—has 'emerged as a gargantuan hit. As per a report by box-office tracking portal Sacnilk, the Mohit Suri directorial has earned a stellar Rs 153 crore in just six days.

‘Shah Rukh Khan said your son has my hair, Hrithik Roshan said he has my eyes,' Archana Puran Singh recalls Parmeet Sethi's stern reaction to their comments

Archana Puran Singh and her family's YouTube channel has been blowing up for the past few months and her sons – Aaryamann and Ayushmaan have developed a fan following thanks to all the family vlogs. In a recent vlog shared on their channel, Archana recalled the time when she visited Shah Rukh Khan's house Mannat for Aryan Khan's birthday party. She shared that after meeting her son Aaryamann, Shah Rukh found that their hair looked alike, and later when Hrithik Roshan walked in, he found that Ayushmann had his eyes. Both these reactions prompted her husband Parmeet Sethi to give her a stern look. She shared, 'We once went to Mannat when these kids were younger to attend Shah Rukh's son Aryan's birthday party. So Shah Rukh met my son and said, 'His hair are exactly like mine' and went away, and Bittoo (Parmeet) looked at me like… Next, Hrithik Roshan comes and he looks at Ayushmann and says, 'His eyes are exactly like mine' and Bittoo again looked at me…' Archana then shared that both her sons look exactly like Parmeet. Archana shared in the video, 'Humare ghar mein hi competition hai (There's competition within the house.)' Parmeet also endorsed his channel and praised his son's efforts. Apart from the second YouTube channel from Ayushmann, Ayushmaan has also started a clothing app and has been promoting it quite actively through his social media. During a recent vlog shared from their trip to Dubai, Archana shared that her sons did not understand the concept of money when they were younger as they often bought things with a card. 'Both Aryamann and Ayushmaan were little at the time. We were in Singapore and had walked into a toy store. Ayushmaan, who was really tiny back then, grabbed a shopping cart and started picking up every doll he could reach. He just kept tossing toys into the cart — sometimes two or three of the same kind! I told him, 'Ayushmaan, you can't take so many toys. We have to pay for all this. Mumma doesn't have that much money.' He stopped and I thought he would put the toys back. But instead, he looked at me and said, 'Mumma, you don't need money. You have a card!' I couldn't stop laughing. How do you explain to a child that a credit card actually requires more money?' she recalled.

Archana Puran Singh's son sulks as dad Parmeet Sethi gets him credit card with ‘super low' limit, actress is horrified to see showpiece with Rs 2 lakh tag

Archana Puran Singh is currently holidaying in Dubai with her family, soaking in the sights, food, and laughter. On their final day, the family decided to indulge in a South Indian culinary treat at one of the city's most iconic restaurants, followed by a lively shopping spree at the Dubai Mall. While waiting for their dosa to arrive, Archana shared a delightful memory from a family trip to Singapore when her sons, Aryamann and Ayushmaan, were still young. She recalled with a smile, 'Both Aryamann and Ayushmaan were little at the time. How do you explain to a child that a credit card actually requires more money?' Aryamann chimed in, 'From that day till now, he still believes, 'Mumma has a card, so there's no problem.'' His father Parmeet Sethi, added playfully, 'Unfortunately, now he's finally getting a card of his own.' A mildly disappointed Ayushmaan replied, 'But the limit is super low.' To which Parmeet quipped, 'I did that on purpose.' While browsing one of the stores, Ayushmaan spotted an elegant Indian showpiece and excitedly called out, 'Mom, this is Indian!' Curious, he checked the price tag and said, 'Wow, it's Rs 70,000!' Archana's eyes widened as she exclaimed, 'My God! An Indian item is this expensive here?' A moment later, Ayushmaan paused, went back to check again, and corrected himself, 'Oops, I misread it. It's not RS 70,000. It's almost Rs 2 lakh!' At that, Archana turned and dramatically walked away, saying, 'Main door jaa rahi hoon (I'm going far away).' She laughed and added, 'Seriously, some of these prices are just too expensive!'
