Collector inspects quality of health services at Government hospitals in Ongole

ONGOLE: Ongole District Collector A Thameem Ansariya on Friday conducted surprise inspections at the Government General Hospital (GGH-RIMS) and the Government Mother and Child Care Hospital in Ongole to assess the quality of public healthcare services and monitor ongoing development works. During her visit, the Collector examined ongoing infrastructure projects and directed officials to expedite the construction of the Mother Newborn Baby Unit (MNBU) within 10 days. She reviewed staff performance, patient services, and cleanliness standards at both hospitals. At the Mother and Child Care Hospital, the Collector personally checked outpatient (OP) registration records, visited various departments including the OP ward, Operation Theatre, Antenatal Ward, Postnatal Ward, Sterilisation Room, and the NTR Vaidya Seva counter. She instructed staff to provide medical services with patience and emphasised maintaining proper sanitation. Later at GGH-RIMS, the Collector reviewed the ABHA (Ayushman Bharat Health Account) registration process and inspected the ongoing repair works. She also assessed free meal distribution for patients and attendants, checking both quality and taste of the food served. The Collector urged hospital staff to communicate politely with patients, especially those who travel long distances for treatment, and not keep them waiting unnecessarily. She reiterated the importance of cleanliness in government hospitals. In light of rise in COVID-19 cases in the State, Collector Ansariya also advised the public to avoid unnecessary travel, mass gatherings, and social events, and to continue following preventive measures.

CM warns hospitals: Be heatwave ready or face action for lapses

Jaipur: Chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma Friday directed the medical and health departments to be fully prepared to deal with heatwave-related emergencies. Speaking at a high-level review meeting at his residence, Sharma emphasised that public welfare during extreme weather conditions must be prioritised. "The medical department must be fully prepared to deal with heatstroke and other heat-related illnesses . Every hospital and health centre should be in top condition, and if any lapses are found, strict action will be taken against the responsible officials." Addressing the risk posed by heatwaves, the CM instructed health officials to stock up on essential medicines and ensure functional equipment in all govt hospitals. "There should be no shortage of medicines or medical equipment at any hospital. All arrangements should be in place to treat patients affected by heat-related conditions," he said. He further instructed district collectors to regularly inspect hospitals to ensure that essential services, including power, water, and medical care, are available without interruption. "Our focus is to ensure that the public faces no inconvenience during this summer," he added. The CM stressed the importance of digital health documentation. "Every citizen must be issued an ABHA ID (Ayushman Bharat Health Account). We must also ensure that these IDs are actively used so that every individual's health record is securely digitised," he said.

Delhi sets up State Health Agency to implement Ayushman Bharat scheme across city hospitals

NEW DELHI: The Delhi government has established a dedicated State Health Agency (SHA) within the Delhi Secretariat to oversee the implementation of the Ayushman Bharat scheme across city hospitals. To operationalise the agency, the health department has diverted 28 medical professionals, including doctors and other staff, from various facilities such as the Dengue Control Centre, district health units, and other government hospitals to the SHA which will be responsible for ensuring effective rollout and monitoring of services under the Ayushman Bharat scheme in the capital. 'The officials will be responsible for facilitation between the empanelled healthcare providers (EHCP) and the National Health Authority. Their tasks include verification and processing claims made by the hospitals for serving patients under the Ayushman Bharat scheme,'a health department official said. Additionally, a grievance management cell would also be institutionalised under the health panel which will be managed by the diverted officials, the official added. As per the established mechanism, claims are raised using a centralised online portal within 24 hours of patient discharge, submitting relevant documents and clinical notes. The SHA then approves and processes the claim, with payments made to the EHCP within 15 days of authentication. Meanwhile, as part of this initiative, the government has issued strict directions to all hospitals under its jurisdiction to begin generating Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) IDs for every patient visiting Outpatient Departments (OPDs), effective May 1. The ABHA ID is a unique identifier that will allow patients to access digital health services and streamline their medical records under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission. Additionally, Heads of Institutions have been instructed to compile a Health Professional Registry comprising detailed digital profiles of all doctors and nursing officers employed at their respective hospitals or medical colleges. The deadline for this task has been set for May 11, with a clear directive for strict compliance. Officials said the move is aimed at strengthening digital health service delivery in Delhi and ensuring that the capital hospitals are fully integrated into the nationwide digital healthcare ecosystem.

Rims launches e-prescription system for five departments

Ranchi: Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (Rims) has initiated a trial of e-prescription services in its psychiatry department as a part of its plan to bring digital transformation in healthcare . Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The trial marks a shift in medical documentation, aiming to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and patient convenience. Initially, the e-prescription system will be implemented in five departments — psychiatry, ENT, ophthalmology, nephrology, and plastic surgery before being expanded across all outpatient departments (OPDs). The initiative is a part of the hospital's project to modernize service delivery. To ensure smooth adoption, the hospital will equip all OPD doctors with tablets and computers. Public relation officer (PRO) at Rims, Dr Rajeev Ranjan, said, "This will facilitate the usage of the next gen software for writing e-prescriptions, which are linked to patients' Unique Health Identification and Ayushman Bharat Health Account IDs, allowing them and doctors to access complete medical history from anywhere." Officials highlighted several benefits of the new system, including reduced prescription errors, better monitoring of chronic and mental health conditions, and improved follow-up care. Through the integration of ABHA (Ayushman Bharat Health Account) and UHID (Unique Health ID), patients can access their prescription slips from anywhere. This system also enables the maintenance of a complete and centralized medical history. Additionally, with doctors using tablets to access e-prescriptions in the OPD, patients can be attended to more quickly, and physicians can instantly retrieve detailed treatment records. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Ranjan said, "This digital shift reflects our commitment to transparent, efficient, and patient-centric healthcare services. The trial was successfully conducted for selected patients in psychiatry OPD, with plans to roll out full-scale implementation after staff training and infrastructure setup."
