Advocates demand pension, health insurance benefits

Kanpur: A delegation of Adhivakta Kalyan Sangharsh Samiti met local MP Ramesh Awasthi on Thursday, urging him to secure a declaration of pension and health insurance schemes for advocates from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is scheduled to visit the city on May 30. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Ravindra Sharma, convener of the Sangharsh Samiti, informed the MP that there is currently no social security for advocates at the national level, forcing elderly advocates to continue working for their livelihood. There is also no provision for free medical treatment in case of illness. Previously, a memorandum addressed to the prime minister regarding a pension scheme and health insurance for advocates and their families, or their inclusion in the Ayushman scheme, had been submitted. The MP had sent this memorandum along with his recommendation to the prime minister, whose office had acknowledged its receipt. Sharma noted that, thanks to the MP's efforts, the demand to link advocates and their families with a pension scheme and the Ayushman Yojana had reached the prime minister. The Bar community of Kanpur is seeking the MP's support to ensure that these demands are placed before the prime minister and that an announcement regarding the implementation of the Advocate Pension and Health Insurance Scheme is made from Kanpur. MP Awasthi, upon receiving the latest memorandum, assured that he would again present the advocates' memorandum to the prime minister on Friday, emphasising their sentiments and working towards the implementation of the schemes. Ajju Mishra, Prashant Shukla, Sanjeev Kapoor, Ashish Gupta, Pt Ravindra Sharma and other members formed the delegation.

PM Modi slams Mamata govt, says Bengal suffering from 'selfish politics'

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday launched a series of attacks on the Mamata Banerjee government in West Bengal, accusing it of stripping the poor of their rights through "selfish politics". 'Bengal is suffering from widespread violence, lawlessness, insecurity among women, unemployment, and graft. Selfish politics of the ruling party in Bengal stripping poor people of their rightful entitlements,' PM Modi said at a rally in West Bengal's Alipurduar. The PM also criticised the Trinamool Congress (TMC) government for showing enmity towards poor, Dalits, Adivasis and women. 'Politics should be set aside, but why is TMC showing enmity towards the poor, backwards Dalits, Adivasis and women?' he asked. 'TMC is not accepting school job scam' Also Read 'TMC regime is not ready to accept its mistakes in the school jobs scam. It is blaming courts and the judicial system," the PM said. "TMC government's corruption destroyed families and lives of teachers in Bengal." 'Not implementing national schemes' The PM also blamed the TMC government for not implementing the national-level schemes in the state. 'Whatever schemes that have been implemented in the nation for the SCs, STs and OBCs, most of them are not being allowed to be implemented in West Bengal. Crores of people are getting free treatment under the Ayushman Yojana, but people of West Bengal are not getting the benefits of it,' PM Modi criticised. "To make a 'Viksit Bharat' (developed India), it is important to make West Bengal 'viksit' as well. That's why West Bengal needs to be instilled with a new energy. For this, we once again need to make West Bengal a hub of knowledge and science, and a centre of 'Make in India',' he added. PM's multi state tour Currently, PM Modi is on a two-day tour to visit four states, including Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. The tour is aimed at inaugurating multiple development projects in these states, worth thousands of crores. This ₹1,010 crore-plus project is designed to supply piped natural gas to over 2.5 lakh households and numerous businesses. It will also establish 19 CNG stations for vehicles. The project is expected to promote clean energy and generate employment opportunities in the region.
