LAHAD DATU: A 46-year-old local man was arrested after threatening his wife via Whatsapp. District Acting Police Chief, Supt Jimmy Panyau, said in an incident on May 22 at Kg Assam, the suspect sent Whatsapp messages threatening to injure his wife and burn her car. He said police later detained the suspect on Wednesday (May 28) at Kg Sapagaya Hilir. 'Further check conducted on the suspect found that he tested for drugs and has a criminal record. 'The suspect was currently in our custody for further investigation under Section 506 of the Penal Code,' said Jimmy. In a separate operation, the police arrested a 40-year-old Filipino man at Pasar Rakyat area, Jalan Pantai, for possessing drugs. Advertisement Jimmy said inspection on the suspect found 5.60 grammes syabu in his possession. 'The suspect also tested positive for Amphetamine and Methamphetamine. LAHAD DATU: Police here arrested a 32-year-old Indonesian for having syabu worth RM641. District Acting Police Chief, Supt Jimmy Panyau, said the labourer was detained in front of a hotel in Jalan Panji, here, on Tuesday. Police detained the suspect upon receiving an tip. 'The team seized a translucent plastic containing a substance believed to be syabu weighing 5.83 grammes. 'The suspect also tested positive for Methamphetamine,' he said, adding that investigation is ongoing under Section 39A(1) and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drug Act 1952. Police urged the public to provide information to assist the police in combating drug-related criminal activities in the district. SEMPORNA: Marine Police foiled two attempts by two speed boats to smuggle in migrants via Pulau Boheian waters on Sunday. Sabah Region Four Marine Commander, ACP Mohd Nazri Ibrahim, said the speed boats were apprehended in Ops Taring Gelora conducted in the areas. 'Inspection found that the speedboats were carrying 25 passengers attempting to enter the state without permission. 'The boat skipper admitted they were paid and from the Philippines and wanted to enter Semporn,' he said. Mohd Nazri said all those detained and the seizures estimated worth RM65,237 were taken to the Semporna Marine base for further action. He said both cases are being investigated under Section 26A of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants (Atipsom) Act 2007 and Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63. Advertisement He said human smuggling is a serious matter, especially in the east coast and the police always keep an eye on this matter. Marine Police will continue to intensify patrol and operation as well as taking stern action against any parties attempting to enter the state or involved in smuggling of migrants. 2 gang robbery suspects held in Lahad Datu

LAHAD DATU: Police believe they have solved a gang robbery case in less than 24 hours with the arrest of two suspects on Monday. District Acting Police Chief, Supt Jimmy Panyau, said the two suspects allegedly robbed a 47-year-old man at Lorong Kiosk Dataran Palma about 11.30pm on Sunday. 'The two suspects attempted to hurt the victim before taking away his personal document and cash. 'The duo aged 17 and 18 were arrested late this morning near the scene. They tested positive for taking drugs,' he said. Jimmy said further investigation is ongoing under Section 395/397 of the Penal Code. In separate cases, police detained three men in the Ops Tapis carried out at Jalan Pantai and Kampung Puyut on Sunday. Jimmy said all three suspects were detained for possessing and drug abuse. Advertisement 'The first suspect, a local man aged 24 was detained for having 0.07 grammes of syabu while the second suspect, a 26-year-old Filipino was detained with 0.14 grammes of syabu. The second suspect also did not possess any identification document and tested positive for Amphetamine and Methamphetamine. 'The third suspect, a 33-year-old local was detained for possessing 0.15 grammes of syabu and tested positive for taking drugs. Prior to his arrest, the suspect acting aggressively, attempted to escape from the police,' he said. Jimmy said all the suspects were currently in their custody and would apply for remand under Section 117 of Criminal Procedure Code for further investigation. District Acting Police Chief, Supt Jimmy Panyau, said a 35-year-old woman lodged a police report claiming that she was raped by her colleague on May 24. 'Acting on the report a police team conducted an investigation and an operation. 'The team arrested the suspect at about 10pm on Sunday and brought him in for further investigation,' he said. Jimmy said police would submit a remand application against the suspect.
