Mangalore Special Economic Zone approves ETAG's state-of-the-art energy solutions production facility
ETAG Energietechnik Pvt. Ltd., the Indian subsidiary of Germany-based European Technology Alliance Group (ETAG) GmbH, has received approval from the Development Commissioner of Mangalore Special Economic Zone (MSEZ) to build a state-of-the-art production facility in Mangaluru.
A release from MSEZ here said ETAG is relocating operations from Germany and Middle East to India to better serve its growing Asian customer base as part of its global expansion. ETAG is positioned to become a key player in the energy solutions space. The company focuses on hybrid energy storage systems, ultra-fast EV charging infrastructure and advanced power technologies. Its work supports sustainable energy in the future of mobility, placing it at the forefront of global energy innovation.
MSEZ said the new MSEZ facility is expected to be operational by early 2026. The investment will facilitate research, design, development, manufacture, and deployment of energy systems/devices. The move supports India's vision to become a global innovation hub and enhance the country's role in the clean energy sector.
Back to Ooru initiative
ETAG and MSEZ had signed an expression of interest wherein the former would invest around ₹300 crore in the latter's facility for research and production on January 27. ETAG Director (Sales and Marketing) B.M. Prakash Pereira had signed the pact with MSEZ CEO V. Suryanarayana in the presence of Dakshina Kannada MP Captain Brijesh Chowta.
Mr. Pereira had said the company would recruit significant numbers of speech and hearing-impaired persons, like in ETAG GmbH, Germany.
Capt. Chowta had said the investment was part of his 'Back to Ooru' (back to the native place) initiative, which aims at motivating locals, who have moved away from their hometown, to set up enterprises in the Mangaluru region.
Mr. Pereira had said the Mangalore SEZ production facility was expected to generate annual exports worth US$110 million, further enhancing India's position in the global manufacturing and export landscape.
