CM, Deputy CM, HM must resign for dark episode in history of Karnataka: B.Y. Vijayendra
Shivamogga Terming the death of 11 persons in the stampede during celebrations of RCB's win in the IPL tourney as a dark episode in the history of Karnataka, BJP State unit president B.Y. Vijayendra demanded the resignation of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Deputy CM D.K. Shivakumar and Home Minister G. Parameshwara. In a press conference in Shivamogga on June 10, Mr. Vijayendra said that he had written an open letter to the Chief Minister conveying the people's sentiment following the tragic incident. 'Innocent people lost their lives because of the irresponsible and self-centred decisions of the Chief Minister and the government.' Referring to the CM's statement that the government had no role in the deaths, and there was no untoward incidents during the event at Vidhana Soudha, Mr. Vijayendra commented that such a statement would prompt him to doubt the maturity of the Chief Minister who has been in politics for long. 'The CM's statement that he had no information about the deaths in the stampede for two hours after the incident showed how weak his administration is,' he stated. Mr. Vijayendra took the government to task for suspending police officers. The government went ahead with the programme ignoring the advice of police officers. The CM and government organised the programme without proper planning with the intention of gaining the goodwill of cricket fans. It took unilateral decisions and forced police officers to follow them. 'The CM suspended five police officers hoping that the government can address the public anger over the incident. However, it is quite clear that the tragedy occurred because of irresponsible decisions of the CM, Deputy CM and Home Minister,' he maintained. He urged the trio to introspect and resign from their positions. 'There are many incidents in the past when people in high posts resigned, taking moral responsibility when they faced serious allegations,' he said. BJP to plan protests across Karnataka Mr. Vijayendra said that the BJP would stage protests across Karnataka against the Congress government for its role in the stampede. The party would stage a protest at Freedom Park in Bengaluru on June 13. The second phase of protests would begin on June 16. Party workers would stage protests in all Assembly constituencies. Legislators Dr. Dhananjay Sarji, D.S. Arun, district BJP president N.K. Jagadish and others were present at the press conference.

Law and order collapsing in coast under Cong rule, warns BJP chief
Bengaluru: Karnataka BJP president B.Y. Vijayendra has issued a stern warning to the Congress government, accusing it of fostering lawlessness in the coastal districts, especially in Dakshina Kannada. Speaking to the media today outside his residence, Vijayendra said the government's inaction and selective policing were pushing the region into chaos. He condemned what he called 'police-sponsored hooliganism', warning that the BJP would not remain silent if the government continued to use the police to suppress dissent and target Hindu activists. 'This government is running like a Tughlaq Darbar under Siddaramaiah's leadership. They are reviving a feudal-style administration instead of upholding democracy,' Vijayendra said. Vijayendra revealed that he had already discussed the deteriorating situation in the state with senior national BJP leaders last night. 'Today, our MPs and MLAs will meet senior police officials to raise these serious concerns,' he added. Referring to recent banishment orders (gudipaaru) issued to several individuals in Dakshina Kannada, he questioned the intent and transparency behind the police actions. Drawing a sharp analogy, he said, 'Kings and paleyagars (feudal lords) once ruled India, and it feels like the Congress is trying to bring that system back.' Referring to the recent murder of BJP youth activist Suhas Shetty, Vijayendra alleged that Congress leaders deliberately avoided visiting his family. He further accused the government of downplaying the role of women seen aiding the accused killers escape—a fact, he said, was captured by news channels but ignored by the police. Why haven't those women been arrested yet? Why is the government silent?' he demanded. He charged the government with targeting Sangh Parivar leaders, saying that FIRs were being filed against Hindu leaders and activists to intimidate them. 'This is not law and order. This is political vendetta,' Vijayendra thundered. Highlighting alleged police excesses, he claimed that BJP and Sangh Parivar workers were being harassed with midnight raids and questioning at their homes, creating an atmosphere of fear. 'Where are we living? Is this a democracy or dictatorship?' he questioned. Vijayendra also criticized the government for failing on development fronts, arguing that the Congress was attempting to distract from its failures by creating communal tensions and suppressing dissent. 'While the public is angry over the lack of development, the government is busy covering up its failures by hounding Hindu activists. This is nothing but a political conspiracy,' he said. The BJP's state unit has made it clear that it will intensify its agitation if the Congress government continues to, as Vijayendra said, 'use the police to wage a political war.' The statement marks an escalation in the BJP's attack on the ruling Congress amid growing law and order concerns in Karnataka's coastal belt.

"BJP will not sit idle with hands tied back": BJP Karnataka President lashes out at Siddaramiah govt
Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], June 3 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Karnataka President and MLA B.Y. Vijayendra on Tuesday lashed out at the Congress led state government and stated that the BJP would not sit idly with their hands tied back if the state government would resort to using police like goons. Actions were destroying the law and order in Dakshin Kannada and other coastal regions. He further stated that the actions of the government were destroying law and order in Dakshin Kannada and other coastal regions. Speaking to the media today, he said, 'I discussed this issue with national leaders last night. Today, our MPs and MLAs will meet senior police officials.' Responding to a question about the deportation of several people in Dakshina Kannada district, he said, 'Once upon a time, kings ruled this country. We've heard of feudal lords back then. The current Congress government is running the state like those feudal lords. The Siddaramaiah-led government is running a Tughlaq-style administration that suppresses democracy.' He continued, 'Look at the shameful behaviour of this Congress government in recent months. At a time when people are expressing outrage over the lack of development in the state, the government is trying to cover up its failures through such incidents. It is also conspiring to insult Hindu activists.' He alleged that during the murder of Suhas, some evil forces prevented the Home Minister from visiting Suhas' house. He further questioned what action had been taken against women who were allegedly involved in the murder of Suhas Shetty. 'Three to four women stood on the road, helped the murderers and traitors get into a car, and escape,' he said. 'What has been done about this? Have they been arrested?' he asked. 'We no longer believe that there is an elected government or that police are maintaining law and order in our state. Meanwhile, an FIR has been filed against senior Sangh Parivar leaders. This is a conspiracy to threaten Hindu leaders and activists. Police are knocking on doors at midnight and interrogating our activists. Are we living in a democracy? Where are we?' he questioned. On the state government suppressing the rights of the farmers, he stated that the government was tarnishing their own image. 'The state government is tarnishing its image by curbing farmers' rights. It is trying to suppress the farmers' protest over the Hemavati river water issue. The government is using police thuggery to suppress this movement,' Vijayendra said. 'Maybe one or two people threw stones - that is not acceptable. The police are a part of our state. But using such incidents as an excuse to target our activists and farmer leaders and put them behind bars is a conspiracy. This will not help suppress the Hemavati river water protest,' he asserted. 'I and other party leaders will visit the site this afternoon. This worthless Congress government is doing no development work. It cannot even provide funds for development. The collapse of law and order is due to the government's conspiracy. This is all being done to cover up their failures,' he alleged. 'We are not big people to advise the state government on how to maintain law and order, but the BJP has the power to break this government's goonda behaviour and arrogance. Our workers have that strength. We will show it in the coming days,' he said in response to a question. (ANI)

BJP slams Cong for 'emergency-like crackdown' on opposition, media in Karnataka
The Karnataka BJP has criticised the Congress-led state government's decision to file a defamation case in connection with a newspaper advertisement that highlighted the government's failures. The advertisement, presented as a "charge sheet", was released on the occasion of the Congress government completing two years in office. BJP State President B.Y. Vijayendra said on Monday, 'A second chapter of 'emergency' has begun in Karnataka. But the power to reverse it lies with democracy, with the people of Karnataka, with the opposition parties, and with the media. The Congress-led government in Karnataka will realise this very soon.' 'There is absolutely no question of the BJP Karnataka being intimidated by any threat from the Congress government. If you believe that you can silence the voice of the opposition by invoking the names of police and law, that is nothing but the height of your foolishness,' he said. It is now clear that the Congress's decision to file a defamation case -- based on the advice of sycophants and irrational minds -- against the Bharatiya Janata Party is not just an act of political retaliation but also a vengeful move against the media, he underlined. The dark chapter of imposing an Emergency in India, aimed at strangling the democratic system, belongs to the Congress party. It is the Congress that earned infamy for jailing opposition political leaders and key figures in an attempt to suppress the opposition -- an integral part of democracy. It was during the Emergency that media offices were locked down, press freedom was crushed, and the spirit of the Constitution was trampled upon -- this too is part of Congress' history, he recalled. "Every time Congress comes to power, it gets intoxicated by authority. In the last two years in Karnataka, it has been trying to establish authoritarian rule. To suppress opposition parties that have been questioning the series of corruption scandals and the zero-development governance, the Congress has misused the police system to intimidate them. Using the Speaker of the Assembly, the Congress suspended 18 opposition MLAs for an extended period -- using the Speaker's chair to showcase its autocratic mindset," he asserted. "Now, in the name of 'achievements', the Congress government has set out to mislead the people of the state with lavish 'Sadhana Samaveshas (achievement conventions)', despite an empty treasury. When the BJP, as a responsible opposition, issued advertisements through the media questioning this anti-people move, the Congress, rattled by the criticism, has resorted to filing a defamation suit. By deploying government machinery and officials for this purpose, it has, for the first time in Karnataka, issued a dark warning aimed at intimidating both the opposition and the media," Vijayendra noted. He said the Congress government is so terrified that a mere advertisement reflected nothing but cowardice, he stated. The Congress-led government had issued a notification on Sunday stating that a decision had been made to file the defamation case with the 42nd Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court (CMM) against the "false campaign" against the state government. The government further stated that it had appointed the Secretary of the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms (DPAR) to file the case and appointed public prosecutors B.S. Patil and Shailaja Nayak to argue the case. The government had also appointed Kumata Prakash, Deputy Secretary of the DPAR department, to coordinate between different departments and provide all inputs and documents in the case to the public prosecutors.

Zero achievement: Karnataka BJP on Cong govt completing two years
Bengaluru: The Karnataka BJP on Tuesday slammed the Congress government for its 'Sadhana Samavesha' celebration to mark two years of coming to power, claiming that it has zero achievements and endless advertisements. State BJP President B. Y. Vijayendra said, "Beyond the glossy headlines and front-page ads, government stands exposed for rampant corruption, relentless price hikes, soaring farmer suicides, alarming maternal deaths, escalating crimes against women, Hindu lives under constant threat, deteriorating infrastructure, safe harbour for anti-national elements, skyrocketing unemployment, broken promises and failed guarantees, stalled development and suspension of farmer welfare schemes like PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi, Raitha Vidyanidhi, and more. " "The youth, women, and elderly are completely disillusioned. Their daily struggles are magnified by continuous price hikes and the increased financial strain on their savings," Vijayendra charged. He stressed that "rising atrocities" and "crimes" have pushed Karnataka into the national and international spotlight for all the wrong reasons. "Namma Bengaluru, once hailed as the Silicon Valley of the East, is now plagued by pothole-ridden roads, choking traffic, frequent flooding, and overflowing sewage. Tech giants are pulling out, investors are alarmed, and infrastructure is collapsing - but the government remains indifferent," Vijayendra criticised. "Farmers, our backbone, were abandoned during their time of distress. Their cries are unheard by this heartless government," he stated. Maternal mortality is at an all-time high, reflecting a shattered healthcare system and a government that has failed its most vulnerable, he noted. Vijayendra claimed that when it comes to real work, the Congress government has nothing to show. The only 'Sadhana' this government has mastered is "lavish spending" on offices and "deceptive" advertisements, he said. Notably, the BJP, in full-page newspaper advertisements, released posters on how prices of essential commodities have increased during the tenure of the Congress-led government in Karnataka. The BJP has provided a comparative chart of prices of essential commodities and the schemes and projects brought out during the tenure of the BJP and halted by the Congress-led government.
