The Met Launches Art Collaboration With Band-Aid Brand

BAND-AID® Brand The Metropolitan Museum of Art has collaborated with Band-Aid Brand® to release a first-of-its-kind wound care range featuring designs by artists whose works are prominently displayed at the museum. With designs by Katsushika Hokusai and William Morris, the collection is two years in the making and features decorative bandages, a classic metal tin package and first aid bags. The collection was created to provide consumers with a unique and accessible way to experience historical artworks, transforming moments of care into stylish yet meaningful connections to art and culture. 'In seeking an unexpected canvas that would allow us to share works of art from The Met collection with the broadest possible audience, Band-Aid Brand was a clear winner,' said Josh Romm, Head of Global Licensing & Partnerships at The Met. 'As a household name trusted for quality and beloved for eye-catching design, this collaboration offers us the opportunity to make art part of the daily lives of consumers in an unexpected way that will spark curiosity and joy with audiences young and old.' BAND-AID® Brand When planning which artwork would feature, it was important to both Band-Aid® Brand and The Met to find the balance between works that art enthusiasts would appreciate and the needs of everyday bandage consumers. Ultimately, they chose 'The Great Wave' (ca. 1830–32), 'The Lake at Hakone in Sagami Province' (ca. 1830–32) and 'Yellow Chrysanthemums on a Blue Ground' (ca. 1825) by Katsushika Hokusai; and 'Brother Rabbit' (design registered 1882, printed 1917–23) by William Morris. To adapt the artwork and scale it to size, Band-Aid® Brand partnered with integrated brand activation agency Advantage Marketing Partners, in turn working alongside The Met to ensure thoughtful design adaptation that preserves the integrity of the source artwork. Quality was a top priority from a visual perspective. BAND-AID® Brand 'Our shared value of 'art for all' informed the creative approach for the collaboration. Starting with a beloved image that is recognized by many: Hokusai's Great Wave. We decided to expose a broader range of works by Hokusai selecting colorful images that depict scenes of nature,' Romm explained. 'We further developed a cross-cultural conversation about works created in multiples by selecting William Morris's Brother Rabbit to be featured on a complementing first aid kit design. Whether consumers choose just to appreciate the beautiful images or dive deeper into the narratives behind them, this selection of artworks is sure to inspire.' The Metropolitan Museum of Art Band-Aid® Brand collaboration is available to shop exclusively at Target for a limited time starting April 6.
