Teenage motorcyclist critically injured in crash
A teenage motorcyclist has been critically injured in a collision that also involved a van and a car. Police were called to the A287 Farnham Road at the junction with Hillside, near Odiham, Hampshire, at 17:40 BST. A 19-year-old man was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. Police have appealed to trace the van driver, who left the scene before officers arrived. Insp Andy Tester said: "It is possible he didn't realise how serious the collision was and didn't think we'd need his details. "However, we do need to speak to him as a matter of urgency and are appealing to him to come forward." Dog death after attack investigated by police
A dog has died of its injuries after an attack by an "XL bully type" dog. Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary is investigating the incident which took place in Portsmouth on Wednesday 30 April. A force spokesperson explained a 65-year-old man was walking his brown cockapoo in Alexandra Park between 18:00 and 19:00 BST when it happened. The cockapoo was reportedly attacked by a "large white and ginger XL bully type" dog. The spokesperson added: "The cockapoo has since died from its injuries and we would now like to speak to anyone who can help us identify the dog and its male owner." Murder arrest after man's death on cruise ship
Police have opened a murder inquiry after a 60-year-old man died on a cruise ship. The death reportedly followed an altercation on MSC Virtuosa in British waters at 20:30 BST on Saturday, detectives said. The ship had left Southampton at 18:00 that evening on a two-night excursion to Bruges, Belgium. A 57-year-old man from Exeter has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody. Det Ch Insp Matt Gillooly, from Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary, said: "We want to reassure you that this appears to be an isolated incident on board, and we want to thank the crew for their cooperation and assistance with our inquiries." The detective appealed for information from crew and passengers. The ship returned from Bruges at 06:00 on Monday and remains in Southampton. In a statement, MSC Cruises said: "Following an incident on board our ship, the relevant authorities were contacted and we are cooperating fully with their investigations. Teens arrested as car in near-miss with pedestrians
Two teenagers have been arrested after a car was driven at speed towards pedestrians and horses down a lane to a beach. Police were called to Beach Lane in Netley Abbey, near Southampton, on Saturday at about 15:00 BST after two men were reportedly seen sitting in a blue Skoda inhaling gas from balloons. The force said one man left the car before it was then driven away from officers at speed towards the water, narrowly missing two people. The driver then tried to get into the sea to flee officers with a passenger left in the car, Hampshire police said. Police said as the car was driven down the lane numerous other pedestrians, along with several horses, also had to bolt out of the car's way. The car was found to contain suspected Class A drugs, cannabis, scales and deal bags. An 18-year-old man from Southampton was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply, dangerous driving, driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence, driving without insurance and driving without a seatbelt. A 17-year-old boy from Southampton was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply. The have both since been released on police bail.
