Evacuation alerts lifted for Cantilever Bar wildfire near Lytton, B.C.
The Cantilever Bar wildfire, burning close to Lytton, B.C., is shown in this photo from July 30, 2025.
Several evacuation alerts issued amid the Cantilever Bar wildfire south of Lytton, B.C., have been rescinded.
The notice covers five properties on Spencer Road South and was issued by the Thompson-Nicole Regional District Wednesday morning.
Alerts were triggered for Spencer Road and evacuation orders were given for two sparsely populated First Nations reserves the evening of July 28 as the out-of-control fire continued to spread. The orders for the reserves remain in place.
The B.C. Wildfire Service defines an evacuation order as a requirement for residents to leave immediately, while an alert advises residents to be prepared to leave their homes with little notice.
As of Wednesday morning, the blaze, located around 10 kilometres south of Lytton on the west side of the Fraser River, was considered to be 1,400 hectares in size and held.
The all-clear comes as cooler temperatures and wet weather descends upon much of B.C., tampering flames and aiding crews in their battle against the province's blazes. There are currently 124 active wildfires burning throughout B.C.
Should the weather conditions change, an evacuation alert or order will be reinstated as necessary, said the district.
