Email threat to blow up office of DG, family welfare, sends cops into tizzy
Lucknow: An email threatening to blow up the office of the directorate general of family welfare in Wazirganj sent the police into a tizzy on Monday. While police and sleuths of anti-terrorist squad (ATS) and bomb detection and disposal squad (BDDS) remained on alert for hours, nothing suspicious was found during the search of the entire building, a spokesman said, adding that work at the office resumed after a clearance signal by security agencies. Director general Sushma Singh informed the police immediately. The employees were informed about threat mail after which the staff vacated the building. Police and ATS teams, along with bomb squad, started searching the entire premises with bomb detectors and sniffers. No explosive material was found during the search. Police suspect that the threat mail could be the handiwork of disgruntled elements. ACP, Chowk, Raj Kumar Singh said, "No bomb or explosive material has been found. Cyber cell is looking into the origin of the mail. Security has been tightened in and around the office." The employees were asked if they received any suspicious parcel, they should hand it over to the police. "The threat mail was received at 4.18am on Monday in which a reference was made about Tamil Nadu politics, an MP's alleged nexus with ISI and the Chinese intelligence agency, a helicopter crash, and incidents like Pahalgam in Kashmir. 'Madras Tigers' was written at the end of the message," a police officer said.

Panic over hoax bomb threat at DG women welfare office in Lucknow
An e mail allegedly threatening to blow up the office of directorate general of women and family welfare located in Lucknow's Wazirganj area sent police into a tizzy as police, anti-terrorism squad (ATS) and bomb detection and disposal squad (BDDS) teams remained on toes for hours on Monday. 'No suspicious object was found during the search of the entire building,' a spokesperson for the directorate general of women and family welfare said, adding that the work at the office resumed after a clearance signal by security agencies. As per reports, the department received a threatening mail which read 4 RDX-based bombs will explode in the building soon and 'Pakistan Zindabad'. The DG informed the police about the mail immediately. Later, the employees were informed about this and were appealed not to panic. Despite this, there was chaos as staff began deserting the building and the office was nearly vacant in a while. In a short while, police, ATS and bomb squad teams arrived and started searching the entire premises. No explosive material has been found during the search. Police suspect the incident to be a mischief of some disgruntled elements. During the search operation, no one was allowed entry to the premises. The employees remained at a safe distance away from the building. The policemen kept talking to the employees, convincing them that they were safe. ACP, Chowk, Raj Kumar Singh said the office was evacuated for security reasons. 'No bomb or explosive material has been found. Investigation is being done as to from where and who sent the email. Cyber cell officers are investigating the matter. Security has been increased in the office and surrounding areas. The police are fully alert,' he added. During the investigation, the employees of the department were asked to inform police immediately if they have received any suspicious parcel in the last 24 hours. A police officer said the email starts with 'Pak Zindabad'. He said the email was received on the official email of the directorate general of women and family welfare at 4:18 am on Monday. 'It was also mentioned in the mail that 4 RDX-based bombs are planted in the office. They will be activated on Monday afternoon at 1:13 pm,' he added. In the mail, a reference was made about Tamil Nadu politics, an MPs' alleged nexus with ISI and Chinese intelligence agency, a helicopter crash and incidents like Pahalgam terror attack. 'Madras Tigers' was written at the end of the message, the cop said.

Hoax bomb calls create panic in Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam
Anonymous phone calls claiming that bombs were planted in the railway stations in Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam, on Lokmanya Tilak Terminal Express and on the busy Besant Road in Vijayawada kept the security personnel on their toes on Saturday (May 24, 2025). However, all the calls turned out to be a hoax. much to the relief of the authorities and the citizens as well. After the Police Control Room (PCR) in Vijayawada received a call at around 6.50 a.m., claiming that bombs were planted at public places, the police sounded an alert and conducted checks in Vijayawada railway station. Bomb Squads, along with sniffer dogs, rushed to the spot and scanned the entire Besant Road. As a precautionary measure, shop owners downed their shutters. Government Railway Police (GRP) Inspector J.V. Ramana said that Bomb Detection and Disposal Squads (BDDS) scanned the railway station thoroughly. 'Three sniffer dogs, BDDS and City Security Wing (CSW) officials checked the luggage, restaurants, parcels, waiting halls and other places on all platforms and confirmed that the call was a hoax,' Mr. Ramana said. 'We are checking shops, push carts and canals. Bomb detection teams were scanning the area thoroughly,' a BDDS officer said. During the investigation, the police identified that the miscreant made the phone call from Maharashtra. They also made similar calls in Maharashtra on May 23. 'The anonymous call was made from a stolen mobile phone. The owner of the phone had complained to the police. As per the police who received the call in the PCR, the caller spoke in Hindi,' said South Zone ACP D. Paavan Kumar. 'After receiving the call, we alerted the police in Mumbai, Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada, Railway Protection Force (RPF), BDDS and the Government Railway Police (GRP),' the ACP said. The police are doing a thorough investigation, RPF Assistant Security Commissioner Kota Joji said. Hours after a hoax bomb threat targeted Besant Road in Vijayawada, an anonymous call claiming that a bomb was planted on the Mumbai Lokmanya Tilak Terminal–Visakhapatnam Express, which just arrived at Visakhapatnam Railway Station, created panic in the city. Teams from the city police, GRP, RPF, Bomb Squad, and Dog Squad did a thorough check of all compartments. The train arrived at the station around 1.45 p.m. Police sources said that a suspicious bag was found in one of the coaches during the inspection. The personnel found clothes, soap, a mobile phone, and other items in the bag. Later, it was reportedly found that a passenger had inadvertently left it behind. The authorities and passengers had a sigh of relief as no explosives were found. More details are awaited.

Bomb hoax leads to detention of four on Delhi-B'luru Karnataka Express
Nagpur: Four passengers were detained by the Government Railway Police (GRP) for allegedly making a hoax bomb threat concerning the 12628 New Delhi–Bengaluru Karnataka Express in the early hours of to police, the accused, Deep Singh Rathore, made a call to the emergency number 112, claiming that a bomb had been planted in the rear general coach of train no. Solapur police control room relayed the alert to the Divisional Security Control Room (DSCR/SUR), which informed GRP Control in Bengaluru and Kalaburagi the train arrived at Wadi station near Kalaburagi around 1.21 am, personnel from GRP, local police, and the Railway Protection Force (RPF) thoroughly searched the rear general coach. No suspicious objects were found. Attempts to contact Rathore were initially unsuccessful as his phone was mobile tracking applications, police traced Rathore, a resident of Jalaun, Uttar Pradesh, who was travelling from New Delhi to Guntakal. During questioning, Rathore claimed he suspected three fellow passengers of carrying narcotics or explosive substances, which prompted him to make the call. He further alleged that his mobile phone was briefly taken by the suspects and returned at Solapur station after RPF personnel three passengers — Ganesh Magar (24), from Dadeldhura district, Nepal, Mintu Kumar (25), from Darbhanga, Bihar, and Shiv Thapa (26), from South Bengaluru, Karnataka — were identified and deboarded for questioning. They alleged that Rathore had been recording videos and taking photographs of their family, prompting them to temporarily seize his phone to delete the content. They were travelling from New Delhi to 2.25 am, the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) from Kalaburagi, along with sniffer dog 'Rani', conducted a detailed inspection of all coaches. At 4.15 am, the BDDS issued a "Safe Certificate," and the train resumed its journey at 4.34 am. Tata Memorial Hosp gets hoax bomb mail
Mumbai: An email threatening that a bomb is placed in the Tata Memorial Hospital premises was received by the hospital on Friday morning. Police and bomb detection and disposal squad (BDDS) carried out searches, but nothing was found. The Tata Memorial Hospital is located in the Parel area in central Mumbai. Zonal DCP Ragasudha R said, "A hoax bomb mail threat was received by the Tata Memorial Hospital this morning. Nothing suspicious was found. Further legal process is ongoing."The mail was received at 9am on Friday, and the police were immediately alerted. A police team and BDDS personnel arrived at the spot and carried out thorough searches, but nothing suspicious was found. Police are now trying to find the Internet Protocol (IP) address of the email sender. TNN
