Tyler Perry's Divorced Sistas make BET+ history
Tyler Perry has been a trending topic lately, with one reason being his new BET+ series, Tyler Perry's Divorced Sistas.
The LeToya Luckett-led drama made history on the streaming platform as the most-watched series premiere, something it accomplished within just three weeks.
According to a press release, the premiere has not only outperformed every BET+ series since the service launched in September 2019, but it has also significantly boosted the platform with a record 415,000 new subscription starts.
Divorced Sistas is on the brink of concluding its eight-episode season, which has garnered much attention on social media with fans posting clips of popular scenes and starting conversations about the characters.
The series follows the lives of five friends: Rasheda (Luckett), Geneva (Khadeen Indréa), Naomi (Porscha Coleman), Tiffany (Briana Price), and Bridgette (Jennifer Sears). They're all battling life and relationship woes at some stage of divorce, marriage, and dating, but it's the battle within their circle that tests their true character and love for one another.
Guest stars include DeVon Franklin, RonReaco Lee, and more.
Tyler Perry has several series on different platforms currently showing new episodes or have upcoming seasons. His Netflix series She The People will reportedly undergo a name change after the owner of a nonprofit organization (who has a trademark) filed a lawsuit. It stars Terri J. Vaughn, who is most known for her role as Lavita on the '90s series The Steve Harvey Show.
Other popular shows include House of Payne, Sistas, Zatima, All the Queen's Men, Assisted Living, and more.
If the mood of Divorced Sistas feels familiar, it's because there are classic shows that also follow a group of women friends in different stages of their lives. Two are Living Single and Girlfriends.
