Put terror tag on Bishnoi gang: Canada Opposition after Kapil Sharma cafe attack
Canada's Conservative Party has called on Prime Minister Mark Carney's government to designate the Lawrence Bishnoi Gang a terrorist organisation in Canada. The development comes days after gangster Goldy Dhillon, who states he is affiliated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, claimed responsibility for attacking comedian Kapil Sharma's cafe in Surrey, Columbia (BC) Premier David Eby, Alberta Premier Danielle Smith, and the mayors of Surrey and Brampton have all previously urged the federal government to label the Bishnoi gang as a terrorist gang is suspected to be behind the surge of extortion threats in BC, Alberta, and Ontario, and has terrified the South Asian community, Global News reported.
Conservative Shadow Minister for Public Safety Frank Caputo, in a letter written to Public Safety Minister Gary Anandasangaree, said the Bishnoi gang's violent track record warrants a terrorist listing."The Bishnoi Gang's activities lay the groundwork for listing it as a terrorist entity. As you know, they have taken credit for vast violence in Canada and abroad. The gang's activities include political shootings, extortion of South Asian Canadians, and extreme violence," MP Frank Caputo wrote in the letter written on Monday, August 11."The gang engages in these activities for political, religious, and ideological reasons. Additionally, gang members boast of such activities to intimidate other potential targets," the letter said putting the gang on the list would give law enforcement new tools to crack down on its activities."I implore you to list the Bishnoi Gang as a terrorist entity to provide law enforcement and all levels of government with the tools necessary to address the Gang's activities. The designation would permit the government to push back against the gang with financial, criminal, and property sanctions," he added."Given the terror that they are imposing on the South Asian community, with South Asian Canadians, they do meet the Criminal Code definition of a terrorist organisation," Frank Caputo told Global PROVINCES ALSO PUSH FOR BISHNOI GANG TO BE LABELLED TERRORIST ORGANISATIONAuthorities in Canada's Alberta province in July urged the federal government to designate the Lawrence Bishnoi gang a terrorist British Columbia Premier David Eby also asked the government to take action against the gang, saying he wants the India-based gang declared a terrorist organisation in stated that the initiative was intended to provide law enforcement with stronger tools to tackle the gang's expanding extortion SHARMA'S CAFE ATTACKED BY BISHNOI GANG TWICE WITHIN A MONTHKapil Sharma's Kap's Cafe in Canada's British Columbia once again came under attack last Thursday – the second time within a newly launched eatery was earlier attacked on July 9.
