Tonight, we honour the changemakers—by name and by impact.' Backed by her NGO, MeghaShrey, Singh has built a multi-sectoral platform that bridges artistic brilliance, scientific breakthroughs, grassroots leadership, and compassionate service. By bringing together cinema icons, sports heroes, educationists, environmental pioneers, and community leaders, this edition of Sarvottam Nagrik Samman reinforced its mission: that India's progress rests on diverse contributions, both celebrated and silent. And in acknowledging them, it reaffirms that every act of service, no matter the scale, moves the nation forward. BJP pans UBT over Deonar dump remarks
Mumbai: The BJP has criticised the opposition's remarks regarding the Rs 2,368 crore tender to clear 185 lakh tonne of garbage at the Deonar dumping ground. In a post on social media, BJP Mumbai president Ashish Shelar described Shiv Sena (UBT) as crows, vultures and herons who feasted on the commission from the waste for 25 years and were now circling with accusations. Shelar alleged in 2008, when Thackeray's party was in power in the BMC, a tender worth Rs 4,500 crore was issued for the scientific disposal of waste at Deonar, and the BJP opposed it, pointing to many deficiencies. At the time, the BJP was in alliance with Sena. "Despite our opposition, the contract was issued, they took commissions, and nothing happened afterwards. The garbage heap still remains at Deonar, suffocating Mumbaikars with stench...," he said. — Clara Lewis Mumbai: The BJP has criticised the opposition's remarks regarding the Rs 2,368 crore tender to clear 185 lakh tonne of garbage at the Deonar dumping ground.
