B Jayashree and team perform ‘Ranga Sambhrama' in Belagavi
Belagavi: A 'Ranga Sambhrama' programme by renowned stage artiste, Padma Shri awardee B Jayashree, and 12 members of her team attracted thousands of audience to Kannada Bhavan auditorium on Thursday. Thousands of theatre lovers flocked to listen to the stage singing. Jayashree and her team entertained the people by singing various songs. Songs from plays written by writers Girish Karnad, Chandrashekar Kambar, and HS Venkateshamurthy mesmerised the audience. The musical programme lasted for more than two hours. Speaking on the occasion, Jayashree said ranga geethes (theatre songs) are full of nuances and situations. Their lyrics have colour, form, and personality. They should be enjoyed. Singer Rajaprabhu Dhotre inaugurated the programme by singing a ranga geethe. Vagdevi Sangeetha Shale, Uma Sangeetha Pratishthana, Swara Sadhana Sangeetha Shale, Suswara Sangeetha Shale, Bharatiya Gayana Samaj, Suresh Chandargi, and Khushi Dhawali troupe sang various songs and brought lustre to the programme. Karnataka Border Area Development Authority member Ashok Chandaragi presided over the function. Belagavi gives push to urban greening
Belagavi: Various govt departments, private groups, schools, and colleges celebrated World Environment Day in different ways in the Belagavi district on Thursday. The slogan for this year was 'Beat Plastic Pollution'. Meanwhile, the forest department launched the work of planting several saplings under the urban greening project. Noted theatre artiste B Jayashree and her team participated in Environment Day programmes in Belagavi. Under the urban greening project of the forest department, North MLA Asif Sait, accompanied by officials, planted saplings in various places in Belagavi city and delivered a message of environmental protection. Speaking on the occasion, MLA Asif Sait said that a project to plant about 25,000 saplings was launched in the North constituency, including Rani Bagh, Queen's Garden, Asad Khan Dargah, and the highway in Belagavi. Various environmental organisations and volunteers joined the planting programme.
