Filthy BMW M6 E24 Washed For The First Time In A Quarter Century

Read the full story on Backfire News We bring to you yet another BMW M6, this one a first generation E24, also abandoned in a yard. Some are going to be fighting mad seeing the condition of this Bavarian hero, because it's bad outside and in. The doctor who owns it parked the thing 25 years ago, but thanks to his kids' intervention, it gets a full detailing with the aim to motivate him to fix its mechanical people just park a car and leave it on their property with the intention of addressing some issue with it. While you might want to criticize owners for neglecting their ride, the fact is we all procrastinate on at least some things. You might not with vehicles, but for some people it's a problem they keep meaning to address but don't get around to it. Maybe repairing a car is just too expensive when it's first parked. Then other things happen. They look at the vehicle and see it's filthy, the tires are flat, and they start feeling overwhelmed about how it probably has even more problems. They put off addressing the car. It becomes too much, pushed out of their mind, something which nags their subconscious and every once in a while intrudes into their consciousness. While this BMW M6 E24 was expensive for its time and a true rarity here in the US, making it hard to see in this condition, perhaps that's why the owner didn't just ditch the thing. But it's covered in algae, has rodents' nests inside, and something shoved a bunch of dirt and rocks into the tailpipe. However, as AMMO NYC starts cleaning it up, the paint looks to be in much better condition than we would've thought. But they have to battle corrosion and other challenges to get this ride fully detailed. But the Bimmer cleans up nicely. Even though it's in need of some restoration work, both mechanical and cosmetic, the results are enough to astound the owner. Here's to hoping he cherishes the classic instead of letting it molder in the yard again. Images via AMMO NYC/YouTube

YouTuber Forced To Return Rescued BMW M6

Read the full story on Backfire News We covered previously how a car YouTuber rescued an abandoned 2008 BMW M6 that was just loaded with problems. It turns out he hadn't completed the purchase process with the owner, who demanded the car back later. The reason was all thanks to the previous video we showed you didn't catch the first video, the story is that some rich guy bought the M6 for his daughter, who proceeded to trash it. Badly damaged, including with a window that wouldn't roll up all the way, it was parked partly underneath a shed's awning. But water got inside, filling the passenger-side floorboard with several inches of putrid stuff that just sat for years. Unsurprisingly, the thing was moldier than a cheese factory inside. Even better, once the YouTuber got the M6 home he was able to read the codes, of which there were literally dozens. If you know anything about these Bimmers, they're infamous for breaking big and this one likely had multiple pricey issues. The owner was out of town when the YouTuber picked up the car, so the sale didn't happen then. Let that be a lesson to you – never be too eager to scoop up a vehicle, no matter how good of a deal it appears to be, that you take it home before the title is handed over. She later saw the first video and was offended, then proceeded to ghost the YouTuber for weeks, or so he says. Then she asked for the car back. He tried renegotiating the price, but ultimately after a few months they couldn't come to an agreement. If you ask us, this YouTuber dodged a lethal bullet and he seems to realize that. The BMW would've cost him multiple times what he paid for it to get it running and driving properly again. And we can almost guarantee it would've broken again no too long after. He dropped the money pit back at the same place where he rescued it. We wonder how many more years it will sit and molder. Image via BradenBuildz/YouTube

Guy Tries Saving An Abandoned BMW M6

Read the full story on Backfire News We didn't think we'd see a 2008 BMW M6 abandoned and badly damaged like this one for some time. But this YouTuber tracked down one supposedly gifted to a teenage girl who thrashed it before the German performance car was left out in the elements for years. His plan is to resurrect the Bimmer, which proves to be a tall all, not only does the M6 have a plastic sheet instead of a rear window, collision damage, and a broken window that won't roll all the way up, there's standing water on the floorboards. Of course, there's also mold throughout the interior and rodent damage under the hood. In short, the BMW is a disaster. But these young guys load it up into a trailer, we assume after paying some quantity of cash for the thing. A car like this could become a huge money pit – we've seen that time and again. After all, that BMW V10 is notorious for expensive problems, and that's just the beginning. However, the YouTuber seems to know his stuff when it comes to the M6, so he proceeds with caution, opting to not fire the engine up and see what happens. Instead, he runs diagnostics and the Bimmer throws 68 fault codes. This is when most people would cut their losses, part of the car, and be done. But the guy decides to dig further, looking at the oil and filter. There he finds metal shavings – not a good sign. Again, most people would just give up and start selling parts off the Bimmer. But this guy changes the oil and filer, then tries to get the V10 running again. Amazingly, the car starts and drives, sort of. The engine appears to be in limp mode as all kinds of misfires, transmission codes, etc. show up on the diagnostic screen. Let this be a lesson to everyone: the most expensive car you can buy is a cheap German. Image via BradenBuilz/YouTube
