You can't Uber to the front door of Nashville International Airport anymore: What's changing

Some passengers have complained about having to walk 10 minutes or less to the Ground Transportation Center for rideshare pickup at Nashville International Airport. Now, they'll be dropped off there too— if taking an Uber or Lyft. Starting at 12:01 a.m. on June 3, rideshare drivers will not be allowed to drop passengers off curbside at the BNA terminal entrance. Instead, they will head to the Ground Transportation Center. From there, travelers will follow the sidewalk to the right and cross the street to reach Terminal One. They can take the escalator, elevator or stairs up to the lobby where airline check-in counters and security lines are located. The Ground Transportation Center is on the bottom level of BNA's Garage Two. "Travelers utilizing ride-share services to BNA are encouraged to take this brief walk into consideration when making plans for when their ride-share driver will pick them up and take them to BNA," airport spokesperson Erin Thomas said in a statement. Nashville International Airport said in the May 29 announcement that centralizing rideshare activity will improve efficiency, streamline traffic flow through the main terminal roadway and help rideshare drivers "maximize their earning potential." "These upgrades play a vital role in BNA's broader long-term infrastructure plan, designed to enhance airport accessibility, efficiency and overall traveler experience," a statement from the airport said. This adjustment comes amid the airport's multi-billion-dollar expansion that has been ongoing for the last eight years. The total renovation costs since 2017 amount to $4.49 billion, including the ongoing Concourse D extension, another parking garage and road improvements. Friends and family dropping travelers off at the airport will continue to be allowed curbside drop-off at Terminal One, and the airport says to expect less curbside congestion once the change takes effect. The Ground Transportation Center drop-off zone is only for rideshare drivers and riders. The Nashville International Airport asserts that rideshare drivers will be able to maximize earnings under the new rule. Instead of dropping off a rider, circling out of the airport and then back in to the Ground Transportation Center for a pick-up, drivers can simply stay in one place. Airport officials expect that this will decrease the wait time for rideshare pick-up from BNA. Hadley Hitson covers business news for The Tennessean. Syria's Sharaa meets Bahrain's King on Gulf trip

MANAMA: This handout picture from the official Bahrain News Agency (BNA) shows Bahrain's King Hamad bin Isa al-Khalifa meeting with Syria's President Ahmed al-Sharaa (L) in Manama on May 10, 2025. - AFP MANAMA: Bahrain's King Hamad bin Issa Al Khalifa on Saturday welcomed Syrian President Ahmed Al-Sharaa, Bahraini state media said, the interim leader's latest engagement with regional leaders since taking power in December. The official Bahrain News Agency said the king hosted Sharaa at his palace where they 'discussed relations and opportunities to strengthen cooperation' in various fields. The two leaders 'also addressed regional developments', the news agency said, adding that 'the discussions covered the latest developments in Syria and ways to support the country's security and stability.' Sharaa, who was made interim leader after his group spearheaded the offensive that toppled longtime ruler Bashar Al-Assad on December 8, has since visited the Gulf states of Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates, as well as capitals elsewhere in the region and in Europe. This is his first official visit to the tiny Gulf kingdom of Bahrain since taking office. In a joint press conference with Sharaa, Bahrain's Foreign Minister Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani said they discussed 'paths towards bilateral cooperation and ways to enhance and develop it in various sectors including trade, civil aviation, energy, health and education'. Bahrain was one of the first countries to express willingness to cooperate with the new authorities in Damascus after Assad's fall. In a letter to Sharaa just days after his forces had taken the Syrian capital, King Hamad expressed 'Bahrain's readiness to continue consultations and coordination with Syria and to support regional and international organizations in efforts that benefit the Syrian people'. — AFP

Firefly Neuroscience acquires Evoke Neuroscience to expand commercial footprint

AI company Firefly Neuroscience has completed the acquisition of Evoke Neuroscience, a developer of technologies aimed at assessing brain health. This strategic move is said to aid Firefly in setting up a foundation model of the human brain with its brain network analytics (BNA) technology. The acquisition brings substantial assets to Firefly Neuroscience, including a database of more than 180,000 standardised records of electroencephalography (EEG)/ERP assessments. Firefly noted that the acquisition has doubled its number of brain scans. Additionally, its patent portfolio has tripled to 27 granted patents, and its commercial reach has expanded over tenfold with more than 60 current commercial users. The purchase agreement includes a $6m transaction, split evenly between cash and Firefly common stock priced at $3.50 per share. Furthermore, Evoke's investors are eligible for a $500,000 earn-out to be paid in Firefly common stock, contingent upon the acquired business achieving a minimum of $3m in annualised revenues within the next three-year period. Firefly Neuroscience CEO Greg Lipschitz said: 'As our already unparalleled BNA database continues to grow with each new clinical study and/or clinical assessment in which our respective technologies are used, and armed with vital access to NVIDIA's advanced software development resources, industry-leading frameworks and software development kits, we believe this acquisition of Evoke represents a key step toward Firefly fulfilling its goal of building the world's first EEG /ERP-based foundation model of the human brain.' Firefly develops solutions that enhance brain health outcomes for individuals with mental and neurological disorders. With the launch of BNA for commercial use, Firefly is aiming at pharma companies involved in drug research and trials, as well as medical practitioners. BNA is claimed to have been developed leveraging AI and machine learning on the company's database of high-definition longitudinal EEGs and cognitive EEG (ERPs) from more than 17,000 individuals across twelve disorders and clinically normal individuals. Last year, Zeto partnered with Firefly to distribute its FDA-cleared EEG headsets. "Firefly Neuroscience acquires Evoke Neuroscience to expand commercial footprint" was originally created and published by Medical Device Network, a GlobalData owned brand.
