UP reel maker dies in Mumbai-Pune expressway mishap
Navi Mumbai: A reel maker from Uttar Pradesh, Asfiya Bano (22) was killed in a fatal mishap in the Shedung village area on Mumbai-Pune expressway on Sunday noon. A group of five people were heading on a tour to Lonavala, when the driver lost control of his SUV and crashed with the divider resulting in the mishap. Four others sustained grievous injuries and were rushed to the MGM hospital-Kamothe. A constable of the highway safety unit, Avinash Mahajan, has lodged a complaint with Panvel taluka police station. The injured driver, Noor Alam Khan (34), was speeding on the E-way when the mishap occurred. The SUV had allegedly dashed the rear end of another car on the first lane. Assistant police inspector, Subhash Dige said, "The SUV flipped towards its left before landing. The victim is a social media reel maker having around 1.5 lakh fan following. They had been touring Mumbai since last week." Other injured were identified as Arbaz Ahmed (24), Arif Azam (24) and Rizwan Khan (26). Thane man killed, 3 injured in Mumbai-Goa highway mishap
NAVI MUMBAI: A Thane resident, Aaditya Verma (38), was killed and 3 others sustained grievous injuries when their car crashed with the rear end of a parked trailer on the Mumbai Goa highway at around 1.30am on Tuesday. The accident was reported in Khamb village of Raigad, and is suspected to have been caused due to the driver dozing off and poor visibility during the rainy season. The car occupants were returning home after visiting tourist spots in Chiplun, Ratnagiri. Kolad police have booked the car driver, Siddhesh Shinde, for rash and negligent driving causing death and injuries under the relevant sections of the BNS and Motor Vehicle Act. The two others have been identified as Nilesh Radhani (25) and Amit Karpe. The trailer was parked opposite a petrol pump. Illegal parking has been rampant on the highway stretch, resulting in the rising number of mishaps. - Umesh K Parida

Two arrested for car stunt
Mumbai: Khar police arrested two persons for performing a dangerous stunt on a moving car at Carter Road in Bandra after a video went viral, an officer said on Tuesday. The video clip shows a man lying on the bonnet of the car, which zips past the promenade near the sea in Bandra (west). Khar police had registered a case under relevant sections of the BNS and Motor Vehicle Act. PTI
