Autistic Boys Sexually Assaulted, Burnt With Cigarettes At 'Illegal' Dehradun School
Last Updated: The caretaker has been arrested and booked under sections of the BNS and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Two autistic brothers, both minors, were allegedly sexually assaulted and physically tortured by a school caretaker in an illegally run school in Dehradun. The incident reportedly came to light when the children informed their mother, who was visiting them, that the caretaker would sexually assault them, beat them with an iron rod, and burn them with cigarettes. Following the disclosure, the mother filed a complaint, and the 29-year-old man was arrested on Saturday, PTI reported, citing officials. The accused, originally from Ghazipur district in Uttar Pradesh, was residing in Kargi Chowk, Dehradun. In her complaint, the mother alleged that her children were subjected to physical and sexual abuse by the school caretaker. An FIR has been registered, and the accused has been charged under sections of the POSCO Act, police said. The children have undergone medical examinations, and the Child Welfare Committee has been informed of the incident. In a separate incident earlier this month, a teacher at a private school in Delhi was charged with allegedly harassing a five-year-old child with special needs. The teacher reportedly tied the student's hands and taped his mouth in front of other students. The school principal, upon learning of the incident, informed the police, and a complaint was subsequently filed. First Published: June 02, 2025, 15:56 IST
