Kolar: Srinivaspura police Thursday detained 12 Bangladeshi nationals, including four children, and sent them to detention centres in Tumkuru and Nelamangala. According to police, two men moving around suspiciously at Srinivaspura were picked up for questioning. They admitted to working as rag pickers and revealed that several acquaintances were living in camps near Nandagudi, doing the same work. A police team later brought in another 10 people from the area, including four children. Superintendent of police B Nikhil and assistant commissioner of Kolar subdivision directed their relocation. Srinivaspura police inspector Mehaboob Pasha said two of the eight adults had been staying illegally in India for years, while the women and children had arrived recently. Man dies after drinking undiluted alcohol for Rs 10,000 challenge in Karnataka

KOLAR: A 24-year-old person who consumed 3.5 pouches [each 180 ML] of alcohol without diluting it died in Mulbagal in Kolar district. Kolar Superintendent of Police B Nikhil said the preliminary investigation revealed that during a party with his friends, Karthick claimed that he could drink five pouches of whiskey without mixing it with water. His friends challenged him to do so and offered to give him Rs 10,000 if he did it. He accepted the challenge. After consuming 3.5 pouches, he felt uneasy and was rushed to a hospital where he died without responding to the treatment. According to the post-mortem report, death was due to alcohol poisoning. Speaking to TNIE, Kolar Superintendent of Police B. Nikhil said that preliminary investigations revealed that Karthik (23), a resident of Poojarahalli, had been partying with friends when he claimed he could consume five packets of liquor without mixing them with water or soda. 'It is said that during the party he challenged that he was capable of consuming up to five packets of alcohol without diluting it with water or soda,' Nikhil said.
