Major degree verification lapses found in PTI-2022 recruitment
Jaipur: The Special Operations Group (SOG) probing the PTI-2022 recruitment exam scam has uncovered a widespread "degree switch" racket involving forged academic credentials from multiple universities. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now As per the SOG's FIR, while at least 25 candidates selected initially claimed to have been enrolled in different universities at the time of applying, they eventually submitted Bachelor of Physical Education (BPEd) degrees from Uttar Pradesh's scandal-tainted JS University during document verification at the Rajasthan Staff Selection Board (RSSB). A senior SOG officer said this bait-and-switch tactic raised red flags, suggesting degrees were fraudulently procured after candidates cleared the exam. The probe revealed 26 other candidates submitted JS University degrees with altered academic sessions—their mark sheets were suspiciously "printed on the same day". In addition, nine candidates listed Diploma in Physical Education (DPEd) in their forms, but submitted BPEd degrees post-selection. Investigators also identified three private universities—in Meghalaya, Chhattisgarh, and Gujarat—whose degrees were similarly misused. They suspect intermediaries helped candidates obtain backdated or forged degrees from these institutions to fraudulently meet eligibility criteria. Acting on digital evidence from JS University's server—which records tamper-proof timestamps of printed mark sheets—SOG registered an FIR on Saturday against 167 individuals. This includes 165 selected candidates, JS University officials, and unknown accused. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The probe builds on the March 2024 arrests of JS University's chancellor, registrar, and a middleman in a separate forged degree racket. Forensic analysis of documents and the interstate network is underway. As per the FIR filed by SOG, investigators focused on 203 selected candidates from JS University's academic sessions 2017–2019, 2018–2020, 2019–2021, and 2020–2022, and found that only one candidate had a mark sheet printed during the official academic session (2018–2020). The remaining mark sheets were generated during or immediately before the recruitment process. As per the latest FIR, JS University is authorised to admit only 100 students annually for the BPEd course. At most, 400 valid graduates from four academic sessions should have been eligible. Yet, 2,082 applicants appeared for the PTI exam.

PTI-2022 exam: 167 booked for forged degrees from JS University
Edited 399 Jaipur: Police's special operations group (SOG) has unearthed a major fraud in the 2022 Physical Training Instructor (PTI) recruitment exam, with hundreds of candidates having used forged BPEd degrees from JS University, based in Shikohabad of Uttar Pradesh, to clear the exam. Acting on digital evidence retrieved from the university's server, which logs tamper-proof timestamps of printed mark sheets, the SOG on Saturday registered an FIR against 167 individuals, including 165 selected candidates, rest are JS University officials and unknown accused. The probe builds on arrests made in March this year when the university's Chancellor, Registrar, and a middleman were arrested in a forged degree racket case. As per the FIR filed by SOG, investigators focused on 203 selected candidates from JS University's academic sessions 2017–2019, 2018–2020, 2019–2021, and 2020–2022, and found that only one had a marksheet printed during the official academic session (2018–2020). The remaining marksheets were generated during or immediately before the recruitment process—many on a single date, Oct 15, 2022—signalling mass forgery. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Brain tumor has left my son feeling miserable; please help! As per the latest FIR, JS University is authorised to admit only 100 students annually for the BPEd course. At most, 400 valid graduates from four academic sessions should have been eligible. Yet, 2,082 applicants with JS University degrees appeared for the PTI exam. SOG found that 25 candidates originally claimed to have degrees from other universities but later submitted BPEd degrees from JS University. Another 26 had mismatched academic sessions between their forms and documents. Nine applicants listed DPEd credentials but submitted BPEd degrees during verification. Forty-three candidates from the 2020–22 batch submitted results dated after the Sept 25, 2022, eligibility cut-off. For the same academic session, candidates presented different result dates—an anomaly officials say is impossible if the records were authentic. All marksheets for the 2017–19 session were printed only in 2022, as the recruitment process began. SOG also uncovered that some candidates used backdated BPEd degrees from private universities in other states—Meghalaya, Chhattisgarh, and Gujarat. Investigators suspect collusion between university staff and intermediaries to generate certificates on demand. The PTI recruitment timeline began with the exam announcement on June 16, 2022, applications from June 23 to July 22, the exam on Sept 25, results on Oct 21, and document verification from Dec 2 to 16.

2 PTIs, aide held for using fake degrees to get govt jobs
Jaipur: Banswara police arrested three men Friday, including two govt physical training instructors (PTIs), in connection with a fake degree racket. Two of the accused, Manish Kumar and Kamlesh Patidar, secured govt jobs as PTIs using forged degrees, while the third, Pramod Kumar, allegedly helped arrange the fake certificates. The case came to light after the police launched an investigation into complaints of fake degrees being used. A senior police officer was tasked with investigating the matter. He filed a report pointing to irregularities in PTI recruitment in 2018 and 2022. SP Banswara, Harish Agarwalla, said all three were arrested after verification confirmed that the degrees were fake. Manish Kumar, a resident of Partapur in Banswara, submitted a forged BPEd (Bachelor of Physical Education) degree allegedly issued by Ravishankar Shukla University, Raipur, in Chhattisgarh in 2012 to apply for the PTI recruitment exam. He passed the exam conducted by the Rajasthan Staff Selection Board and was appointed as a PTI at Govt Upper Primary School, Napla, in Chhoti Sarwan Panchayat Samiti in the district. Kamlesh Patidar, from Bodia village under Garhi Police Station, also used a fake 2013 degree from the same university to apply in the 2018 recruitment. He was selected and posted as a PTI at Govt Upper Primary School, Garadiya, in the Sajjangarh Panchayat Samiti area. During interrogation, both Manish and Kamlesh admitted they obtained the fake degrees through known contacts. One of those contacts was identified as Pramod Kumar Modi, 36, a resident of Gadhi. Pramod did not apply for a govt job himself but confessed to helping arrange the fake BPEd degrees for others through a known source. Verification by Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University confirmed that the degrees submitted by Manish and Kamlesh were not issued by the university and did not match official records. All three accused were arrested and are currently being interrogated further.
