Tuaran MP Datuk Seri Wilfred Madius Tangau said the initiative aimed to raise environmental awareness and promote sustainable flood and erosion prevention. The tree planting took place simultaneously from 7am at schools and riverside areas. The program, organized in collaboration with the Tuaran District Education Office, Department of Environment (JAS), and various government and private agencies, also featured poster drawing contests and environmental exhibitions. Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability (NRES), Dato' Sri Huang Tiong Sii, who officiated the event, reaffirmed the government's commitment to environmental management. Under Budget 2025, RM3.2 billion has been allocated for environmental development, including RM5.2 billion for climate action. The amended Environmental Quality Act 2024 came into effect on July 7, 2024.
