McDonald's launching ‘iconic' new burger that has never been seen before in UK

The fast food chain is introducing the new Big Arch burger on June 18 for the first time in the UK - here is all the information you need to know, including how much it will cost McDonald's is launching an 'iconic' new menu item this month that has never been available before in the UK. The fast food chain is introducing the new Big Arch burger on June 18. Maccies says the burger, which has been on sale before in Canada, Portugal and Germany, is made with two juicy 100% British and Irish beef patties, topped with white cheddar cheese slices, crispy onions, fresh onions, shredded lettuce, crunchy pickles, and smothered in signature Big Arch sauce. ‌ The burger on its own costs £7.99, or you'll pay £9.99 for a medium meal with a side and drink. Keep in mind do vary from restaurant to restaurant. ‌ Thomas O'Neill, Head of Menu at McDonald's UK&I, said: 'A new iconic burger needs an equally iconic sauce, and we've taken it up a notch with the Big Arch. This isn't just about size, it's about flavour. 'With double layers of beef, crispy onions, and the hero of the build, our signature sauce, every bite is crafted to hit the spot to satisfy serious McDonald's hunger. Big, bold, and packed with serious deliciousness.' It comes after McDonald's added new items to its menu last month, including the return of the McSpicy X Frank's RedHot. The McSpicy X Frank's RedHot contains a chicken breast in a hot and crispy coating, topped with lettuce, cheese made with Emmental, jalapenos, slivered onions, and Frank's RedHot Mayo. You can also buy a separate pot of Frank's RedHot Mayo dip. The Steakhouse Stack has also rejoined the menu, alongside the Biscoff McFlurry and Biscoff Frappe. Maccies has also launched a new Frozen Cherry Lemonade, which is described as a tangy frozen lemonade with a sweet cherry flavoured swirl. ‌ Separately, McDonald's has also confirmed it is launching two new breakfast items next week as part of a major shake-up. The fast food chain is trialling a new Breakfast Savers Menu across the north of England. It includes a brand new Sausage Sandwich and a savers version of the popular Bacon Roll. Some selected McDonald's restaurants across the North will also offer a new Breakfast Bundle Deal which comes with a Saver Bacon Roll or Sausage Sandwich, plus a drink. The new Breakfast Savers Menu will be trialled in 332 restaurants from May 7. It will also feature fan favourites such as the Cheesy Bacon Flatbread and Hash Browns.

I tried McDonald's new £2 breakfast meal that's coming out in a few days

Most people are set in their ways when it comes to their McDonald's breakfast choice. The fast-food giant has rarely changed what early risers can expect over the years, with only a few exceptions. Fans were delighted last year when the breakfast wrap made its long-awaited return to the menu after being temporarily discontinued. More recently, McDonald's fruit juice range expanded to include a 'refreshing' apple juice. So when I was invited as one of the first in the UK to test a "brand new" addition to the breakfast menu at Liverpool's refurbished Lord Street location, my curiosity was piqued. With the breakfast selection largely staying the same for years, I was buzzing with speculation about what new food McDonald's might have whipped up. Having worked behind the scenes at several McDonald's stores from 2014 to 2018, I suspected that the 'new' item would likely be a twist using some familiar ingredients. I remember working a breakfast shift when the Cheesy Bacon Flatbreads were released, and they'd often sell out in less than an hour. I wasn't told much before arriving. Once there, a simple question from the staff – 'red or brown?' – ruled out I'd be eating chicken nuggets for breakfast, reports the Mirror. It was only a short wait before clarity was served up alongside two sandwiches. Embracing simplicity, the McDonald's team introduced the concept of the fresh Saver Bacon Roll (£2.19) and Sausage Roll (£1.99). Served with a choice of meat and a dollop of either ketchup or brown sauce, these offerings came not in the typical McMuffin but on toasted hamburger buns. These items are set to be the stars of the new morning Saver Menu, providing customers with a budget-friendly way to kickstart their day. The whole breakfast range includes some breakfast favourites, such as the iconic Hash Brown as well as the Cheesy Bacon Flatbread, Porridge, Apple Slices and both Tropicana fruit juice options. Initially, I wasn't convinced about swapping my usual McMuffin order for one of these. However, they did offer a lighter experience that impressed me. It seemed like an easier on-the-go option compared to a stodgy McMuffin or a very loaded Breakfast Wrap. We were informed that, once available, these could be paired with selected drinks to create a £2.99 Saver Meal. A hash brown wouldn't be included, but there's nothing stopping you from adding the £1.59 golden delight to your order. I was also told that the new Bacon Roll wouldn't replace the existing Bacon Roll for those who usually choose this in the morning. The new Bacon Roll is going to offer a cost-effective alternative, while the sausage sandwich is a completely new addition. These buns will be introduced in over 330 McDonald's outlets across the north west region and, if successful, they will be rolled out to more locations later in the year. The areas where McDonald's customers can order the new breakfast items include: They will be launched alongside the new seasonal menu next week on Wednesday, May 7. This shake-up focuses on the main menu and includes the return of the 'decadent" Steakhouse Stack burger and the McSpicy and Frank's RedHot collaboration. To cool off, fans of the fast food giant can get the new Frozen Cherry Lemonade or indulge in all things Biscoff. Customers can order the caramelised biscuit in McFlurry or Frappe form.

I'm an ex McDonald's worker - what I think of the new breakfast menu item

the revival of the breakfast wrap and the introduction of a new fruit juice. So, when I was invited to be one of the first people in the UK to try something "brand new" to the breakfast menu in Liverpool's recently revamped Lord Street store, I was pleasantly surprised. The morning menu has been almost unchanged for decades - so my mind went into overdrive thinking of all the creations the McDonald's bosses could have cooked up. I've worked in several McDonald's kitchens between 2014 and 2018, so I half expected that the 'new' item would use some of the existing ingredients. Upon arriving, the McDonald's staff asked me, 'red or brown?' which confirmed that it wouldn't be a breakfast of chicken nuggets or classic burgers. It took just a few minutes for all my questions to be answered when two sandwiches arrived. Simplicity was the key here as McDonald's workers talked us through the idea behind the new Saver Bacon Roll (£2.19) and Sausage Roll (£1.99). The sandwiches arrived with our choice of meat paired with a dash of either ketchup or brown sauce. Instead of an iconic McMuffin, our breakfast was served on a toasted burger bun. It was explained that these would be the stars of the new morning Saver Menu - offering hungry customers a cheap and cheerful way to start their day. I'll admit, upon seeing the items, I was not thinking about dropping my go-to McMuffin order for one. However, they did end up impressing me with a much lighter experience. I felt like this would be a much easier on-the-go option than a towering McMuffin or a packed Breakfast Wrap. We were told that, once available, these could be bundled with selected drinks to make a £2.99 Saver Meal. A hash brown would not be included, but nothing stops you from adding the £1.59 golden treat to your order. I was also told that the new Bacon Roll would not replace the existing Bacon Roll for fans who usually opt for this of a morning. The new Bacon Roll is offered as a cost-effective alternative, while the sausage sandwich was something entirely new. These buns will be launched in over 330 McDonald's stores across the north west. The areas McDonald's customers will be able to order the new breakfast items from include: These will be launched alongside the new seasonal menu, which you can read about here, on May 7. If successful, they will be available later in the year in more locations.
