Gabriela Fundora Vs. Marilyn Badillo: Date, Time And How To Watch

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA - NOVEMBER 02: Gabriela Fundora poses after defeating Gabriela Alaniz in a fight ... More at The Theater on November 02, 2024 in Las Vegas, Nevada. (Photo by Cris Esqueda/) DAZN will kick off Saturday's boxing coverage with a fight card in the UK, but the evening show will feature boxing's youngest-ever undisputed champion, Gabriela Fundora, defending her undisputed flyweight championship against Marilyn Badillo at Frontwave Arena in Oceanside, California. Here's how you can watch Fundora's title defense and the rest of the card. Saturday, April 19 at 8 PM ET Stream: DAZN Fight Card This fight marks Fundora's first defense of her unified titles following her seventh-round TKO victory over Gabriela Alaniz in November 2024. LAS VEGAS, NEVADA - NOVEMBER 02: Gabriela Fundora knocks down Gabriela Alaniz during a fight at The ... More Theater on November 02, 2024 in Las Vegas, Nevada. (Photo by Cris Esqueda/) Fundora, 23, remains undefeated at 15-0 with 7 KOs. Like Fundora, the challenger will also come into the fight without a loss. Badillo, 25, a native of Cuautitlán, Mexico, is also undefeated with a record of 19-0-1 and 3 KOs. While Badillo's record is impressive on paper, there are some legitimate questions about her level of competition. She's never fought outside of Mexico, and the combined record of her last three opponents is 24-18-5. In addition to fighting outside of her country for the first time and against easily the best fighter she's ever faced in her career, Badillo will be giving up six inches in height to the long and skilled champion who stands 5-foot-9. This one could be a one-sided affair in favor of the champion. Perhaps Badillo will bring more to the table than it appears. In the co-main event, the undefeated Charles Conwell (21-0, 16 KOs) will face Jorge Garcia Perez in a 12-round super welterweight bout that could steal the show. Conwell is an undefeated fighter at 154 pounds looking to push his way into the conversation for some of the top fights in his weight region. ONTARIO, CALIFORNIA - DECEMBER 14: Charles Conwell reacts after knocking out Gerardo Vergara during ... More a fight at Toyota Arena on December 14, 2024 in Ontario, California. (Photo by Cris Esqueda/) Perez is 32-4 with 26 KOs, and he's never been stopped. He could push Conwell more than any fighter he's faced in his career to this point, and we may see a war take place in the co-feature. A win for Conwell might position him to face the winner of the seemingly imminent battle between Gabriela's brother, Sebastian Fundora, and Xander Zayas. The latter is the No. 1 contender for Fundora's WBO super welterweight title. Fundora also owns the WBC title, so that fight will be a big one once it is finalized. Conwell is currently ranked No. 5 in the WBC and he is No. 2 in the WBO rankings, and Perez is No. 3, so this is a crucial battle between serious title contenders. Earlier in the day on DAZN, Dalton Smith will headline a card from Sheffield, England, where he faces Mathieu Germain. That card will be over just a shade before the Fundora-Badillo card begins. If you want, you could spend the day watching boxing on DAZN.

A second title defense came in August of that year when Fundora picked up a unanimous decision over Daniela Asenjo. That win earned Fundora a date with WBC, WBA, and WBO 112-pound titleholder Gabriela Celeste Alaniz in November 2024 at The Theater at Virgin Hotels in Las Vegas. Fundora, who had a pronounced height and reach advantage over Alaniz. She used those physical assets well, keeping her opponent at distance. While Alaniz tried to use her speed and movement to close distance and score, Fundora's reach and power made things difficult for Alaniz. Tow company plotted to torch rival trucks in Bay Area, federal indictment alleges

A federal grand jury indicted a tow truck operator in San Francisco this week for conspiracy to commit arson as part of an alleged plot to drive more business to his companies by torching the trucks of his competitors. The indictment accuses Jose Vicente Badillo, 29, and four co-conspirators of setting fire to at least six tow trucks across the Bay Area on four occasions between April and October 2023. Authorities allege Badillo orchestrated and directed others to set the fires to retaliate against rivals for perceived wrongs, according to the indictment. The first incident detailed in the indictment was April 4, 2023, when a 2008 white Sterling Bullet 45 tow truck and a 2012 white Dodge Ram 4500 tow truck were torched. Several weeks later, a 2018 Peterbilt 579 'heavy wrecker' was set on fire in East Palo Alto, Calif. A 2009 Ford F-550 tow truck was lit on fire on July 25, 2023, followed by two more tow trucks on Oct. 3 of that year, including two Ford F-550s and a 2022 Dodge Ram 550 flatbed. Authorities did not detail how investigators linked the fires to Badillo, or how the alleged conspirators were involved. At least one co-conspirator was a business associate of Badillo's and was affiliated with one or more towing companies, including Specialty Towing, according to the indictment. The indictment is the latest of several criminal investigations centered around Badillo. On Aug. 9, Badillo was charged with auto insurance fraud. FBI agents executed search warrants in connection with the case, including at one of his towing yards. Also charged in that case was 31-year-old Jessica Elizabeth Najarro. A grand jury indictment in that case accused Badillo of purchasing an 'undriveable' car with 'severe front-end damage' in July 2019 before transferring ownership of it to Najarro, who then allegedly filed a false claim after obtaining auto insurance for it. Read more: Feds charge San Francisco towing company operator amid FBI raids About two weeks later, a federal grand jury again indicted Badillo and three others in a similar auto insurance scheme. Badillo and Abigail Fuentes, who authorities say are in a relationship and have children, were already facing multiple felonies from an alleged welfare fraud scheme filed by the San Francisco district attorney's office in October 2023. Prosecutors in that case accused Fuentes of improperly approving Badillo's welfare application when she was an employee of the San Francisco Human Services Agency. Prosecutors said Fuentes failed to disclose her relationship to Badillo and accused the pair of lying about their income and assets. At the time the application was filed, investigators said the pair had been operating three towing companies — Auto Towing, Jose's Towing and Specialty Towing — which generated more than $2 million in gross annual income. The case led to more scrutiny of the pair's business practices by San Francisco authorities last year, specifically from San Francisco City Atty. David Chiu, whose office later alleged that one of the couple's companies was profiting from illegal tows. Last February, Chiu moved to suspend the company, Auto Towing, and its affiliates, which included Specialty Towing, from receiving contracts from the city. The company came under public scrutiny two months later when a bystander recorded one of its trucks trying to tow a woman's car as she was driving in San Francisco. "We were freaking out calling and basically rolling down our window and saying, 'Hey what you are doing? You can't be doing that,'" the driver, identified only as Joanne, told ABC 7 News in an interview. "He started backing up and his lever came down and basically he was just backing up trying to latch onto our car." Representatives for Auto Towing and Specialty Towing did not immediately respond to calls or voicemails seeking comment. Badillo is scheduled to appear in district court for arraignment on March 20. He faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison and a fine of $250,000 if convicted on all charges, according to authorities. SF towing company operator torched competition's trucks to ‘get retaliation', DOJ says

(KRON) — The operator of a San Francisco towing company plotted to burn competitors' tow trucks across the Bay Area to drive more customers to his and his co-conspirators' businesses, according to a federal indictment. The plan was intended to hurt the competition and 'get retaliation for perceived wrongs,' according to the Northern District of California Department of Justice. It appears the 29-year-old San Francisco defendant also has a history of devising elaborate insurance schemes. Two arrested in brazen armed robbery of Milpitas massage parlor The DOJ said Jose Vicente Badillo was indicted on one count of conspiracy to commit arson. Authorities said Badillo was associated with both 'Auto Towing' and 'Specialty Towing,' two Bay Area-based towing companies, when the fires took place. According to the DOJ, the four incidents occurred between April 2023 and October 2023, in which Badillo and his alleged accomplices set 'at least six tow trucks' ablaze. The timeline of damage and destruction is detailed as follows: Two tow trucks in San Francisco on April 4, 2023 One tow truck in San Francisco on April 29, 2023 One tow truck in East Palo Alto on July 25, 2023 Two tow trucks in San Francisco on Oct. 3, 2023 The DOJ said the prosecution is part of an investigation led by the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces. Badillo faces up to 20 years in prison and a fine of $250,000. He is due back in court on March 20. The DOJ said Badillo is also facing federal charges of money laundering and insurance fraud in a few other unrelated and pending cases. According to an indictment returned by a federal grand jury on July 9, 2024, Badillo and another defendant, Jessica Elizabeth Najarro, 30, of San Francisco, conspired to defraud an insurance company. Authorities said Badillo bought a damaged car in June 2019 and Navarro lied to an insurance company in another state that the vehicle had been involved in a single-car accident. Badillo would deposit a reimbursement check of $34,037.48 into his Wells Fargo account days after it was received, said authorities. Another indictment by a federal grand jury on August 20, 2024, said Badillo has a pattern of using the car scheme. The DOJ said Badillo, and two other defendants submitted a fake insurance claim after buying a car in May 2019 that was already 'undrivable with significant front-end damage' then lied that it had been involved in a single-car accident. Badillo also allegedly staged an accident in which he 'loaded a vehicle carrier with four vehicles (several of which were inoperable or had pre-existing damage) and purposefully drove them off the road on Guadalupe Canyon Parkway in San Mateo County in August 2019.' Badillo reported the crash as an 'accident' to his insurance company, said authorities. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
