FM, Trump's envoy discuss Gaza ceasefire negotiations
Basant Ahmed While being in Washington, D.C., Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration Badr Abdel Aty spoke with to Steve Witkoff, the U.S. President's Special Envoy to the Middle East, on Wednesday, ahead of Witkoff's departure to the region. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that the call addressed efforts to reach a ceasefire agreement in Gaza, the unconditional delivery of humanitarian aid to the Strip, and the release of a number of hostages and prisoners. They exchanged views on the joint efforts of the three guarantor parties - Egypt, the United States, and Qatar - to secure a ceasefire through intensified pressure. FM holds several meetings on the sidelines of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation meeting in Türkiye
Basant Ahmed Minister of Foreign Affairs and Migration Dr. Badr Abdel Aty held a series of meetings today, Saturday, with his counterparts from Chad, Gambia, Gabon, Somalia, Tunisia, and Djibouti, on the sidelines of the meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) held in Istanbul. The meetings addressed ways to strengthen bilateral relations and opportunities for joint cooperation in the economic, trade and investment fields. The topics on the agenda of the ministerial meeting were also addressed, in light of current regional and international challenges. 21 Arab, Muslim countries condemn Israeli attacks on Iran
Cairo - Saba: On Monday, 21 Arab and Islamic countries condemned the Israeli attacks on Iran and called for regional calm and non-selective nuclear disarmament. According to the Egyptian Middle East News Agency (MENA), this came at the initiative of Egypt and in light of contacts held by Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Aty with his counterparts from various countries, which led to an agreement on a joint statement on this matter, which was issued by the foreign ministries of the participating countries. The countries included in the statement are: Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Pakistan, Bahrain, Brunei, Turkey, Chad, Gambia, Algeria, the Republic of the Comoros, Djibouti, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Somalia, Iraq, the Sultanate of Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, Libya, Egypt, and Mauritania. The statement stated that the ministers of state affirmed their "rejection and condemnation of the Israeli attacks against the Islamic Republic of Iran since dawn on June 13, 2025, as well as any practices that constitute a violation of international law and the principles and purposes of the United Nations Charter." They called for "the necessity of respecting the sovereignty of states, their territorial integrity, the principles of good neighborliness, and the settlement of disputes by peaceful means." They expressed "deep concern over this dangerous escalation, which threatens to have serious repercussions for the security and stability of the entire region." They emphasized "the necessity of halting Israeli hostilities against Iran, which come at a time when the Middle East is witnessing increasing levels of tension, and the importance of working to reduce tensions and achieve a ceasefire and comprehensive calm." Egyptian embassy in Tehran opens hotline for community
Israeli strikes on Iran CAIRO - 16 June 2025: Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdel Aty contacted his diplomatic mission in Tehran Sunday to highlight all forms of support to the Egyptian community in Iran. The Egyptian embassy advised the minister that all members of the community are safe so far and that they have not been harmed as a result of the Israeli military attacks. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs called on the Egyptian community in Iran to remain in safe places and to inform the Egyptian mission of any obstacles they may encounter. It also urges all Egyptian citizens present in Iran to exercise the utmost caution and remain in safe places, as well as to immediately communicate with the Egyptian diplomatic mission in Tehran to inform it of their situation and needs.
