Massive Boulder Destroys House and Car During Storm in the Philippines
BAGUIO CITY, July 19: Heavy rains and strong winds brought by Severe Tropical Storm 'Crising' triggered rockslides in Baguio City on Saturday, causing a massive boulder to break free from a mountainside and crash into a house and a parked car along Kennon Road in Barangay Camp 7, authorities reported. According to the Baguio City Public Information Office, citing the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), the incident occurred at approximately 1:15 p.m. Fortunately, the house had been evacuated before the rockslide, and no human injuries were reported. However, a pet dog of an exotic bully breed was killed when the boulder struck the residence. Emergency teams from the CDRRMO, barangay officials, and personnel from the Baguio City District Engineering Office responded promptly to assess the damage and implement measures to prevent further incidents.
