Local man nabbed for allegedly trying to break into surau
KLUANG: A man was arrested for allegedly attempting to break into a surau (prayer room) at Kampung Rahmat, Sri Lalang, near here.
Kluang OCPD Asst Comm Bahrain Mohd Noh said he was detained on Friday (Aug 15) at 2.15am, following a public tip-off at 1.25am.
'Upon inspecting the place, our men found the doorknob to the prayer hall damaged in his attempt to enter the place,'' he said in a statement.
ACP Bahrain said initial investigation showed the suspect, a local man in his 20s, has no previous criminal records and tested negative for drugs.
He said the case is being investigated under Section 448 of the Penal Code for house-trespass.
It states that anyone who commits house-trespass is liable to imprisonment for up to three years, a fine of up to RM5,000, or both.
