But one Light Blues hero had another reason to celebrate - thanks to his HORSE. Stunning strikes from Findlay Curtis and debutant Djeidi Gassama sealed the crucial first leg win in the Champions League second qualifying round tie. Bailey Rice was in the squad for the clash but didn't get off the bench. Still, he certainly enjoyed a good day and not only because of the football! Earlier in the day, Rice's RACEHORSE enjoyed a successful afternoon of things in the feature race at Musselburgh. Jm Jhingree was victorious in the Hays Travel Holiday Outside The Box Handicap in East Lothian. A 10/1 outsider, the three-year old won the 10-horse race with jockey Paul Mulrennan. It's Jm Jhingree's first ever victory. He's trained by Jim Goldie, who took to social media to exclaim his delight at the victory for the horse - and its owner! Gers ace Rice, 18, wasn't there to see his horse triumph, for rather obvious reasons. Rangers fans unfurl giant tifo ahead of Russell Martin's first match Trainer Goldie posted on X: "We're delighted for his owner Bailey Rice as this is his first winner! "Unfortunately he couldn't make it to Musselburgh as there's an important Champions League qualifier at Ibrox he may be playing in!" Rice was an unused sub during the huge clash in Govan. He'll be hoping to see some action in Greece next week when the Gers look to see the tie through and progress to the next round. Rangers players 25/26: Russell Martin's £83.7m squad value revealed as £12.7m new boy named star man
Rangers fans are hoping the club's summer takeover and appointment of new manager Russell Martin can bring back success at Ibrox as the club approach the new Scottish Premiership season. With seven new signings already in the door, the Rangers starting XI will look quite different to the one that stumbled towards the end of the last campaign, and the Ibrox faithful will hope that it results in a vast improvement on what they saw during an inconsistent 24/25 season. But have the new faces that have been added in Govan added value to Rangers squad? And how much is the current squad worth? With a reported squad value of £83.7million, The Scotsman look at how much each Gers player is valued, from the lowest to the highest, according to the transfer values set by popular football statistics site FotMob. 1 . Bailey Rice - £17k Despite being one of the club's most highly-rated youngsters, Rice has the lowest market value in the entire Ibrox first team squad. | SNS Group Photo Sales 2 . Emmanuel Fernandez - £348k Signed for Peterborough United this summer, the young centre-back is valued at just £348,000. | SNS Group Photo Sales 3 . Liam Kelly - £366k The Rangers and Scotland goalkeeper broke into the starting XI towards the end of last season, but is one of the lowest valued player's in the entire squad. | SNS Group Photo Sales 4 . Clinton Nsiala - £526k The French defender is expected to leave the club this summer and, based on his market valued, will bring in just over half-a-million pounds. | SNS Group Photo Sales

Hibernian 2-2 Rangers: Analysis
It might not have been a win, but it was one of the better performances under interim head coach Ferguson - and perhaps that should not be a all, there was no pressure on this game. Second place has been wrapped up for a while, but there wasn't a bad home run to end, or a fierce rival to by the weight of expectation, they played free-flowing, attacking football that highlighted the abilities of Dessers, Raskin, Mo Diomande and Vaclav couldn't they play like this more often? Can these players just not handle the scrutiny that being a Rangers player comes with? On this evidence, might not be a problem for long, given the summer that is on the way. The winds of change are blowing at Rangers and some of these players might not be at Ibrox next that is the case maybe some youngsters, notably Bailey Rice who seems to be part of the future, could have been given more of a chance in the next few weeks.

'I don't want to be squad player' - Rice on Rangers role
Bailey Rice is determined to cement his status as a Rangers first-team regular, regardless of who the manager will be next season. The 18-year-old midfielder made his debut for the club away to Livingston in February 2023, but further progress has been gradual. After featuring just twice as a late substitute in the 2023-24 campaign, he has made nine appearances this term, three of which have been starts. Barry Ferguson take interim charge in February, but there is uncertainty over who will be Rangers boss next season amid an impending takeover of the club. "You don't want to just be a squad player or a bench player," Rice said prior to Sunday's Scottish Premiership match against Aberdeen. "You want to be playing for this club which I've supported for my whole life. It's a dream every time I play and hopefully I can take that into next season and see where it goes. "People can say it's been slow, but at the end of the day this is Rangers. It's a lot harder and a lot more demanding than any other club. I've been happy with how it's been." On his relationship with caretaker boss Ferguson, Rice added: "He's been brilliant, he's been brutally honest which I really like and he has been picking apart my game to see what I can do better and see what I'm doing well."
