Hilir Perak police chief Bakri Zainal Abidin said that two FRU personnel were discharged today after 18 days of treatment at Teluk Intan Hospital. PETALING JAYA : The last four members of the Federal Reserve Unit who were receiving treatment following the crash involving their team's truck and a lorry on May 13 have been discharged from hospital. Hilir Perak police chief Bakri Zainal Abidin said that Mazlan Mat, 50, and Izwan Ishak, 39, were discharged today after 18 days of treatment at Teluk Intan Hospital. He added that Haslizal Ali, 44, was discharged on Thursday, while Syed Isfan Syed Mohammad, 32, who was receiving treatment in the intensive care unit of Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital in Ipoh, was discharged on Wednesday. 'With this development, all nine injured officers have now been discharged and are currently on medical leave as they recover,' Sinar Harian reported him saying. The five who were discharged earlier are Nizam Tarmizi, 38; Aniq Taufiq Rozi, 26; Harrisul Ikhsan Mahabudin, 39; Zulnaidi Zulkifli, 34; and Parih Ali, 44. The crash occurred when a lorry carrying gravel collided with the FRU truck transporting 18 personnel at Jalan Sungai Manik, Ipoh. Eight were killed at the scene, while another died while receiving treatment at Teluk Intan Hospital. Those who died were S Perumal, 44; Roslan Abdul Rahim, 46; Pozli Jaudin, 41; Nurit Pandak, 34; Amiruddin Zabri, 38; Hilmi Azlan, 38; Akmal Muhamad, 35; Damarrulan Abdul Latif, 33; and Akmal Wafi Annuar, 28. The driver of the lorry has claimed trial to nine charges of causing death by reckless driving.

IPOH: Police arrested two men and seized about RM4,361 worth of drugs at a house in Jalan Sungai Nibong in Teluk Intan. Hilir Perak OCPD Asst Comm Dr Bakri Zainal Abidin said the two men, aged 35 and 37, were believed to have been involved in distributing drugs like heroin and syabu. ACP Dr Bakri said the arrests were made during an operation at the house, rented by one of the suspects, on Monday (May 19) at about noon. "During the operation, the police also seized 104.17g of heroin, 8g of syabu and 42g of MDMA (ecstasy). "Both suspects confessed to being involved in drug activities since their early 20s," he said in a statement. "The first suspect tested positive for morphine, while the second suspect tested positive for methamphetamine. "Both men also have a total of nine previous drug cases," he added. ACP Dr Bakri said the drugs seized could be used by 308 people. He said the case is being investigated under Section 39B, Section 39A(1), Section 12(2) and Section 15(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act. "Those found guilty could face the death sentence or lifetime imprisonment and be whipped at least 12 times," he said. "The police would like to remind the people not to be involved with drug distribution or abuse," he added.

IPOH: The lorry driver charged with dangerous driving that caused the deaths of nine Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) personnel last Tuesday has posted bail. Hilir Perak district police chief ACP Dr Bakri Zainal Abidin said the RM6,000 bail was paid by the driver's employer. 'The driver has been granted court bail, with his employer paying the RM6,000 bail amount in one surety. The accused will be released today from the Hilir Perak district police headquarters lock-up,' he said in a statement today. He said it was learnt that the employer and the driver's friend raised the funds together to pay the bail. Last Friday, the Teluk Intan Magistrate's Court set bail at RM6,000 for Rudi Zulkarnain Mat Radi, 45, after he pleaded not guilty to a charge of causing the deaths of the FRU personnel in a crash in Teluk Intan. The charge, under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, provides for a maximum jail term of 10 years, a fine of up to RM50,000, and disqualification from holding or obtaining a driving licence for no less than five years, upon conviction.

IPOH: The lorry driver charged with causing the death of nine Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) personnel in Teluk Intan last week is to be released on bail. Hilir Perak OCPD Asst Comm Dr Bakri Zainal Abidin said the employer of Rudi Zulkarnain Md Radi paid the RM6,000 bail at the Teluk Intan Magistrate's Court on Monday (May 19). ALSO READ: FRU crash: Lorry driver charged with reckless driving "He will be released from the Hilir Perak district police station lock-up shortly. We understand that the employer and some friends raised the money to post bail," he said in a statement on Monday. Rudi Zulkarnain, 45, pleaded not guilty to nine charges of causing death by dangerous driving at the Teluk Intan Magistrate's Court on Friday (May 16). ALSO READ: Wife of fallen FRU officer says she forgives lorry driver He was initially unable to post bail and was detained until the next court mention on June 17. In the incident at Jalan Chikus-Sungai Lampam on Tuesday (May 13), nine FRU personnel were killed and nine others injured. Of those injured, six are still hospitalised, with five at Teluk Intan Hospital and one at Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital, while the rest have been discharged.
