Two men nabbed in Ipoh with drugs
IPOH: Police arrested two men and seized about RM4,361 worth of drugs at a house in Jalan Sungai Nibong in Teluk Intan.
Hilir Perak OCPD Asst Comm Dr Bakri Zainal Abidin said the two men, aged 35 and 37, were believed to have been involved in distributing drugs like heroin and syabu.
ACP Dr Bakri said the arrests were made during an operation at the house, rented by one of the suspects, on Monday (May 19) at about noon.
"During the operation, the police also seized 104.17g of heroin, 8g of syabu and 42g of MDMA (ecstasy).
"Both suspects confessed to being involved in drug activities since their early 20s," he said in a statement.
"The first suspect tested positive for morphine, while the second suspect tested positive for methamphetamine.
"Both men also have a total of nine previous drug cases," he added.
ACP Dr Bakri said the drugs seized could be used by 308 people.
He said the case is being investigated under Section 39B, Section 39A(1), Section 12(2) and Section 15(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act.
"Those found guilty could face the death sentence or lifetime imprisonment and be whipped at least 12 times," he said.
"The police would like to remind the people not to be involved with drug distribution or abuse," he added.

Man arrested following attempted robbery of Chinese nationals in Johor
ISKANDAR PUTERI: Police arrested a man within just three hours after he allegedly attempted to rob two Chinese nationals at their home in Gelang Patah here. Iskandar Puteri OCPD Asst Comm M. Kumarasan said police received a report from a 14-year-old victim at around 1.34pm on Sunday (June 1) regarding the attempted robbery. 'The victim, together with her grandmother, who is in her 70s, was at home when the suspect entered the house at around 11.30am and tried to rob them,' he said on Monday (June 2). ACP Kumarasan added that the suspect demanded valuables from the girl and proceeded to choke her, prompting a struggle between him and both victims. 'The commotion forced the suspect to flee the scene. Unfortunately, both victims sustained injuries during the incident and were later referred to the hospital for medical treatment,' he said. Based on public information, police arrested a 33-year-old local man on the same day at around 2.30pm. Following the arrest, police also recovered clothing believed to have been worn during the incident, including a T-shirt and a pair of shorts. ACP Kumarasan said initial checks revealed that the suspect has two prior criminal records, but he tested negative for drugs. He added that the suspect is currently being held under a seven-day remand until this Sunday (June 8) to assist with investigations under Section 394 of the Penal Code. ACP Kumarasan also praised the public for their cooperation, which was instrumental in the swift arrest. 'We deeply appreciate the prompt information provided by the public, as their assistance enabled us to capture the suspect within just three hours. We remain committed to curbing all forms of crime in the district,' he said. Woman, family get threatened via TikTok livestream
SUBANG JAYA: A woman and her family were allegedly threatened following a defamatory livestream on TikTok. Subang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Wan Azlan Wan Mamat said the incident took place on Saturday (May 31), when the victim came across the livestream on TikTok. 'The video, uploaded by an individual known to them, contained unverified claims and specifically targeted the victim's brother and sister,' he said in a statement on Monday. 'During the livestream, the suspect displayed photos of the siblings while making the accusations. After the livestream ended, the victim received a call from an unknown number threatening physical harm against her and her family.' He added that the woman behind the video had previously contacted the victim's sister, demanding repayment of a supposed RM10,000 loan, which the sister denies ever borrowing. Police have since identified two female suspects, both in their 40s. 'We are actively tracking them down, and arrests are expected soon,' said Wan Azlan.

Johor retiree loses RM108,000 to Macau scam
TANGKAK: A 58-year-old woman lost RM108,000 of her savings to scammers impersonating government officers. Tangkak OCPD Supt Roslan Mohd Talib said the suspects contacted the retiree claiming to be from the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and the police. 'The suspects accused her of being involved in suspicious investment and loan activities, causing her to panic," he said here on Monday (June 2). 'The suspects manipulated the victim into believing she was being audited. "Out of fear, she followed their instructions, transferring money supposedly for audit purposes." Supt Roslan said the victim made a total of 16 transactions totalling RM108,520 to two accounts provided by the suspects. She later realised she had been cheated and lodged a report on Sunday (June 1), he added. The case is being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating. Supt Roslan advised the public not to fall for such telephone scams, or Macau scams, where callers pose as enforcement or government agency officers and accuse their targets of wrongdoing. 'Verify any suspicious calls before taking action. "Be cautious and always get the latest updates on scams through official platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok pages of the Commercial Crime Investigation Department,' he said. Any suspected scams should be reported to the National Scam Response Centre (NSRC) at 997 for early intervention in blocking fund transfers, he added.
