LDA to develop housing projects on Agra E-way, Bakshi Ka Talab

The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) will develop two major housing projects, including Udyog Nagar on the Agra Expressway and Naimish Nagar in Bakshi Ka Talab (BKT), to provide residential and infrastructure facilities to over three lakh people. These schemes, proposed under the Chief Minister Urban Expansion Scheme, aim to drive large-scale development in sectors like industry, health, education and logistics, while also creating new employment opportunities in the state capital. Officials presented detailed plans for both projects during a high-level review meeting chaired by housing and urban planning department secretary Balkar Singh here on Friday. Singh directed LDA officials to re-examine the schemes and prepare a detailed action plan within a week so that seed capital could be sanctioned from the Chief Minister Urban Expansion Fund. Singh said in the meeting that Udyog Nagar will be developed over 5,610 acres along the Agra Expressway. The LDA has identified land in villages, including Bhalia, Adampur Indwara, Bahru, Jaliyamau, Madarpur, Ibrahimganj, Nakataura, Gahalwara, Tejkrishna Kheda, Revari, Sakra, and Dona, falling under Sadar and Sarojini Nagar tehsils. Similarly, the Naimish Nagar project will come up on 2,504 acres in BKT tehsil along Sitapur-Raitha road. Villages identified for this scheme include Bhauli, Lakshmipur, Purba Gaon, Purva, Sairpur, Farrukhabad, Kodri Bhauli, Kamalabad, Kamalapur, Palhari, Gopramou, Barumou, Dhatingra, and Saidapur. Singh also reviewed the ongoing development of IT and wellness cities, two other major LDA projects approved under the CM Urban Expansion Scheme. LDA vice-chairman Prathamesh Kumar, chief town and village planner Anil Kumar Mishra, Awas Bandhu director Ravi Jain, additional secretary Gyanendra Verma, chief town planner KK Gautam, finance controller Deepak Singh and joint secretary Sushil Pratap Singh were present in the meeting.

Amid tensions, farmers along Indo-Pak border asked to harvest crops within 2 days

Attari: Amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan following the Pahalgam massacre , announcements were made on Saturday from the gurdwaras in villages along the Indo-Pak international border asking the farmers to harvest their wheat crop from the fields located beyond the border fence within two days. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The move evoked memories of the tense atmosphere that prevailed ahead of 'Operation Parakram', when India mobilised its troops along the Pakistan border following the deadly terrorist attack on Parliament on Dec 13, 2001. According to local sources, asking farmers to harvest crops from fields located beyond the border fence is a part of the precautionary measures. This is to ensure better visibility and monitoring of enemy troops across the international border, while also preventing potential crop losses in case restrictions on movement across the fence are imposed due to the prevailing situation, they said. Farmer leader Rattan Singh Randhawa said the announcements were made in several border villages, including Roranwala and Bharopal Bhaini. "We are not in favour of war, but it is the preparedness," he said. Recalling the past events of 2001, a farmer from Attari village, Balkar Singh, informed that during Operation Parakram, several villages within a radius of 7-10 km were evacuated, and the Army laid landmines to deter any forward movement by the enemy forces. "Even then, announcements were made from village gurdwaras," he said. A BSF official, meanwhile, confirmed that heavy security arrangements had been put in place along the international border with Pakistan in Punjab. "We are taking every possible preventive measure to counter any potential misadventure from across the border," said the officer. Randhawa informed that over 2,500 acres of farmland was beyond the border fence, adding that in the past, whenever there was tension between the two countries, similar steps were taken as a precautionary measure. Deputy commissioner Sakshi Sawhney appealed to the public to ignore rumours and to verify any information through official channels. MSID:: 120646129 413 |
