Bangladesh Social Club Oman celebrates Bangla New Year

Muscat: Bangladesh Social Club Oman celebrated Bangla New Year 1432 on 9 May 2025 at Al Sawadi Water Park, in Barka. Thousands of Bangladeshi expatriates and family members gathered and enjoyed the day-long event with different traditional sports and cultural programmes. A large number of stalls displayed Bangladeshi traditional food, clothing and other items. Executive committee of Bangladesh Social Club had organised the event in support of its various wings. The programme was presided over by the Club Chairman Sirajul Hoque CIP. The Chief Guest, Ambassador Rear Admiral Khandakar Misbah ul Azim, addressed the gathering and conveyed his thanks to the Social Club for organising the event. He also extend his necessary support for the wellbeing of the community and advised the expatriates to abide by the local law. Bangladesh embassy officials Nurtaz Azim and Mohd. Rafiul Islam accompanied the ambassador. Iftakher Chowdhury CEO of Gulf Exchange, attended the event as a special guest. Social Club vice chairman Azimul Haque Babul CIP addressed the gathering as the convener of the event. The programme was also attended by the vice chairman Rezaul Karim CIP, Secretary General MN Amin, Joint Secretary Anwar Hossain, Abdur Rahim, Mohsin Sarkar, Md Sirajul Hoque CIP and other executive committee members, leaders and members of different Wings of Bangladesh Social Club. A large number of dignitaries, and community leaders including Sayed Manjur Islam, Nur Hossain and Issa Chowdhury also attended the event. The programme was anchored by Dr. Jannatun Nayem Juie and Engineer Farzana Rimi.

Greater Noakhali Wing of Bangladesh Social Club hosts iftar in Sohar

Muscat: In a gesture of community unity and tradition, the Greater Noakhali Wing of the Bangladesh Social Club organised a special Iftar and Dua gathering in Sohar, extending the reach of Ramadan celebrations beyond Muscat. The event, held on Friday, March 14, 2025, took place at the poolside deck of the Mercure Hotel, bringing together distinguished guests and community members. The gathering was graced by Vice Chairman of the Bangladesh Social Club, Azimul Haque Babul, as the chief guest, while the Founder and Chief Advisor of the Greater Noakhali Wing, Iftekhar Ul Hasan Chowdhury, attended as the guest of honour. The event was presided over by Solim Uddin Salim, President of the Greater Noakhali Wing, with General Secretary Abu Yusuf serving as the programme anchor. The Iftar was organised in honour of Noakhali residents living in Al Batinah Governorate. Addressing the attendees, the chief guest encouraged the community to uphold Omani laws and regulations while contributing positively to society. The event saw participation from representatives and leaders of various wings of the Bangladesh Social Club, prominent community figures from Al Batinah, as well as professionals including businessmen, doctors, engineers, and bankers.

Bangladesh's new ambassador assures cooperation to social club

Muscat: The newly appointed Bangladesh Ambassador to Oman has assured the Bangladesh Social Club of all cooperation for the benefit of the community. Recently, the Chairman of Bangladesh Social Club in Oman, Sirajul Haque and Vice Chairman Azimul Haque Babul, met the newly appointed Ambassador of Bangladesh to Oman, Rear Admiral Khondaker Misbah ul Azim, and extended greetings on behalf of the social club. During the meeting, various issues related to the interests of the Bangladesh community in Oman were discussed. Since the social club is an organisation approved by the Omani government, the establishment of a non-political organisation for all members of the community is the responsibility of all expatriates. The club representatives presented detailed information about the opportunities and status of the expatriates and the social, cultural and economic position of the Bangladesh community in Oman. The Bangladeshi community is unparalleled in terms of socialisation and human welfare. Bangladesh and Oman play a leading role in the development of culture and traditions of both countries, which attracts the attention of locals. During the conversation, various activities and future plans of the social club were presented before the new ambassador. At the same time, they highlighted the problems faced by the expatriates and sought cooperation of the embassy in resolving these problems. The ambassador has assured to extend cooperation for the wellbeing of the community.
