Man Utd controversy that 'didn't make sense' sees the FA overturn ban

The FA have stepped in to overturn Evanilson's three-match ban after the Bournemouth star was controversially sent off during Sunday's draw with Manchester United The FA have overturned Bournemouth star Evanilson's three-match ban following his controversial sending off against Manchester United. The Cherries hosted Ruben Amorim's side on Sunday. They took the lead 23 minutes in thanks to Antoine Semenyo's goal. But the game changed with 20 minutes to go when Evanilson was sent off by referee Peter Bankes for a challenge on Noussair Mazraoui. ‌ Bankes initially showed a yellow card to the Bournemouth star, before the VAR recommended he go to the pitchside monitor for another look. After reviewing the incident again, Bankes upgraded the yellow to a straight red. ‌ It was a highly controversial decision, with Mazraoui having appeared to slip before he was caught by Evanilson. The 10-man Cherries defended for their lives, but eventually wilted, with Rasmus Hojlund netting an equaliser six minutes into added time. Bournemouth were left furious by the decision to send off Evanilson, which also led to captain Adam Smith being booked for dissent. Boss Andoni Iraloa made his feelings about Bankes clear after the game. Iraola fumed: 'Common sense. Everyone who has played football understands. He slips. He doesn't catch him with the leg that goes high and the consequence is a red card. It is another three games without playing. The repercussions for us are huge. "Of course we are going to appeal. It is common sense. In the first half Evanilson gets a kick in the chest by Casemiro. I don't think you should have a red card for this. But the VAR cuts the worst angle, the worst frame.' At the time, the Premier League backed Bankes ultimate decision to send off Evanilson. They insisted the Brazilian had committed 'serious foul play'. ‌ A statement read: "VAR recommended an on-field review for a possible red card for the challenge by Evanilson on Mazraoui – with the challenge deemed to be two-footed with both feet off the ground, endangering the safety of the opponent. Upon review, the referee issued a red card to Evanilson for serious foul play." While the Premier League backed Bankes, an independent regulatory commission have taken the opposite view. They have now ordered that Evanilson's ban be overturned immediately. A statement from the FA read: "An independent Regulatory Commission has removed Evanilson's three-match ban following a successful claim of wrongful dismissal. "The AFC Bournemouth forward was sent off during the Premier League fixture against Manchester United on Sunday, 27 April, for serious foul play."

Dorset estate among England's best National Trust sites

Kingston Lacy, which is located near Wimborne, was featured in a list from The Telegraph. Explaining why they created the article, the publication wrote: "The Trust may not always be universally popular, but just imagine life without it for a second, and think about how much of our patrimony we would have lost to demolition, development or just plain passage of time. "As it is, we can choose to visit everything from industrial heritage to stately homes, with large chunks of landscape thrown in, usually with a cup of tea and a scone available somewhere in the mix." The full list of England's best National Trust properties can be found on The Telegraph website here. Why is Kingston Lacy among England's best National Trust properties? Kingston Lacy was praised for its huge collection of paintings, books and objects, which gave it great historical significance. Alongside that, the estate has a Japanese garden among its features, which allows for plenty of areas for great walks. They wrote: "Exoticism is the raison d'etre of Kingston Lacy, owned for centuries by the Bankes family, some of whose wealth came from slave plantations. "The Philae obelisk, one of a pair from Aswan and part of a huge Egyptian collection, faces the house. "The display of top-quality paintings, objects and books was choreographed remotely by William John Bankes, exiled to Venice for his homosexuality in the mid-19th century. "The huge estate includes a Japanese garden and Camellia Walk." On its National Trust website, Kingston Lacy is described as an "opulent" home which was "built to resemble a Venetian Palace". It adds: "Enjoy a summer picnic on the south lawn, or let little visitors run wild in the two play areas. "Wander through the Japanese Garden to the Kitchen Garden, now supplying produce to the cafe. "Or explore the vast 8,500 acres of estate, featuring Iron Age hill forts, colourful heathland, water meadows and the world's oldest pedigree herd of Red Ruby Devon cattle." Kingston Lacy has also been well-received by visitors, earning a 4.4/5 rating on Tripadvisor from 2,063 reviews. One person wrote: "Entering the house we were extremely impressed with the willingness of the room attendants and their wealth of knowledge about not only the venue but each individual room and the contents. "It was pleasantly surprising to be greeted and informed in as little or as much depth of history as you wanted. "Leaving the house we wandered around the stunning grounds and in particular the Japanese gardens which were lovely. Highly recommend this property more so because the rooms contain the original furniture and fittings." Recommended reading: Another shared: "The house is beautiful and in a lovely setting. The big glass windows you first see as you climb the stairs were a great feature you don't often see in historic properties allowing a great view across the garden. "Inside there were a number of surprises with lots of art and quirky features which made each room interesting. "Outside the Japanese garden was pretty as was the walk round to the kitchen garden which, whilst spacious, had limited planting within it but is hopefully expanding with young fruit trees present."

Charlotte Bankes won silver in the women's snowboard cross as Great Britain earned their first podium at the Freestyle Ski and Snowboard World Championships in Switzerland. Bankes recovered from an early setback in the final to challenge Michela Moioli, but settled for a second place after being overhauled by the Italian in a photo finish. "Unfortunately, in the final, I'm a bit frustrated with my start, but I didn't panic, focused on building speed, came back afterwards and was happy to be in the fight until the finish.
