Celtic block Green Brigade banner plan before Hibs clash
The club cited "serial breaches" of the "Banner Protocol" as the reason for the refusal. Read more: The ultras group wanted to create a tifo in the North Curve of Celtic Park for the penultimate home game of the season. The Green Brigade claimed on social media that Celtic have not met with them in person since November 2023. Unfortunately, the club has refused tomorrow's NCC tifo. This is a continued sanction due to the Green Brigade's 'Red Card' and Bik McFarlane tifos. Despite repeated attempts, the club has refused to meet with the Green Brigade since November 2023. — North Curve Celtic (@NCCeltic) May 9, 2025 This comes as Brendan Rodgers' side are set to face the Leith team at home, with the Celtic manager acknowledging the challenge posed by Hibs' recent form. Rodgers said: "I've been very, very impressed. "I think that it was obviously very difficult for David and his team and for the club right through until November. "It's actually been like a reverse of Aberdeen really. "Aberdeen had that brilliant start and then the second part of the season for Jimmy and that has been a little bit more challenging. "For David it was the reverse of that, challenging in the first part. "Since he changed his system in November, they went back five, and that structure has really, really helped the team. "The players you always clearly could see they believed in him as a coach and as a manager but weren't getting the results at the beginning of the season. "But then they had and then it went on a fantastic run. "And in all fairness, when we played them back in the cup game a number of weeks back, they arrived in that moment in a really, really good place. "However, we played a really good game that day and we know we need to play another really good game because, like you say, they have targets they want to achieve in these last three games. "We also have targets. "We're at home also and we want to bring our level of game and it should be a fantastic football match."

Green Brigade call out Celtic board for hardline Hibs tifo stance as 2 reasons issued for ultras roadblock
The fan group have vented online after their banner for the clash with David Gray's men was turned down The Green Brigade have claimed Celtic chiefs have "refused" meetings with them as the club upheld a ban on tifos from the ultras. The fan group made headlines earlier this season with a 'Show Israel the Red Card' display during the Champions League showdown with Bayern Munich. They also produced a controversial tribute to convicted IRA killer Brendan 'Bik' McFarlane before a match against Aberdeen. And going into the clash with Hibs on Saturday, they have revealed that an attempt to display a banner has been knocked back by the Premiership champions' powerbrokers. The group posted to X "Unfortunately, the club has refused tomorrow's NCC tifo. "This is a continued sanction due to the Green Brigade's 'Red Card' and Bik McFarlane tifos. "Despite repeated attempts, the club has refused to meet with the Green Brigade since November 2023." A Celtic email shared by the group read: "Unfortunately, following the club's review of events and relevant processes from earlier this season, which has concluded that there have been serious breaches of the Banner Protocol by the group, the club does not approve the request to set up and display a tifo at tomorrow's match. "The club therefore requests that the group does not bring any tifo or other banners to the stadium for the match, as access will not be provided at any time prior to or during the match. "The club also requests that the group complies with club regulations and protocols, and safety and competition regulations, at the match, including the prohibition on the use of any pyrotechnics. "The club remains open to scheduling a meeting to discuss these matters at a future time." UEFA did not take action against the Hoops for the banner displayed while on European duty while the tribute to McFarlane sparked a police probe. And Celtic supporter group the Green Brigade have now announced that the club is upholding already-existing sanctions against the group for previous displays, and won't allow them to produce a banner during Saturday's match against Hibs. The group posted on X, formerly Twitter: "Unfortunately, the club has refused tomorrow's NCC tifo. "This is a continued sanction due to the Green Brigade's 'Red Card' and Bik McFarlane tifos. "Despite repeated attempts, the club has refused to meet with the Green Brigade since November 2023." The two incidents the group mentioned both occurred in February of this year, first when the Green Brigade held up a display reading 'show Israel the red card' during a Champions League match with Bayern Munich. Uefa didn't end up taking action against Celts, although another banner later in the month, in honour of notorious IRA bomber Brendan 'Bik' McFarlane, did result in a police probe. Celtic said in an email: "Unfortunately, following the club's review of events and relevant processes from earlier this season, which has concluded that there have been serious breaches of the Banner Protocol by the group, the club does not approve the request to set up and display a tifo at tomorrow's match.
