'Along with supporting our players and teams, we have undertaken some very well-needed capital projects with the monies in the past ' John said. 'Without sponsorship from the people of Mourneabbey and the businesses and people of the local hinterland of Mallow, we would not be able to make this kind of investment.' Next to speak was the organiser of the golf classic, John Roche, who paid particular tribute to Derry and Doreen Murphy for their continued sponsorship of this annual event. 'Derry and Doreen provide top-class prizes, and it really adds to the success of our classic,' he remarked. He also welcomed Captain and Lady Captain of Mallow Golf Club to the launch Timmy O Callaghan and Carmel Conroy. 'For the 29th year, we are hoping to make this the best year yet, with record teams and tee boxes, good weather, and a great golf course in Mallow to play in.' John went on to mention the fundraising draw that will take place during the classic, which will be aimed at supporting a very good cause.
