B&M is selling 50p tool that declutters your pathways & flowerbeds – plus it's a fraction of B&Q's price

B&M shoppers are rushing to buy a garden tool that's now just 50p – and it's perfect for cleaning up messy pathways and flowerbeds. The budget-friendly item has been flying off shelves during B&M's ongoing summer clearance, with customers calling it a must-have for giving outdoor spaces a quick and easy refresh. 2 Spotted in stores across the UK, the Wave Lawn Edging is now reduced from £1.50 to just 50p in B&M's massive summer sale. The plastic edging is lightweight but durable, and it's designed to neaten up lawns, paths, and flowerbeds with ease, no need for any heavy-duty digging or costly landscaping. Measuring approximately 9m x 10cm, the wavy strip is perfect for creating smooth borders between your grass and garden beds. It keeps soil and mulch neatly in place while giving your garden a smarter, more finished look. It's a brilliant choice for renters or those on a tight budget who want to improve their outdoor space without permanent changes. Better still, it can be cut to size and repositioned with minimal effort. Compared to similar items at other retailers, which can cost over £3 per metre, B&M's version offers a budget-friendly alternative. Shoppers have been rushing to get their hands on the bargain, with many sharing photos of their garden glow-ups on social media. One person wrote: 'Looks amazing for just a few quid. My flowerbeds finally look tidy!' It's not the only garden bargain catching attention this season. Earlier this summer, shoppers snapped up a £1 plant stand from B&M that many said made small gardens look 'bigger and more stylish'. Another popular find was the £2.50 stone-effect lawn edging, also at B&M – which gave flowerbeds and lawns a smart, finished look in seconds. 'I was quoted £10,000 for a garden renovation but did it MYSELF for £1,000 using ChatGPT to show my kids what single mums can do' And it's not just B&M offering affordable garden upgrades. Poundland's £1 solar lights, Home Bargains ' £3 garden mirrors, and Primark's colourful plant pots priced under £2 have all proved popular with budget-conscious shoppers. Aldi's garden Specialbuys have also been flying off shelves, with shoppers racing to get their hands on £12 pergola canopies, £7 fire pit bowls, and even £4 garden clocks. Other wallet-friendly finds include Wilko's £5 foldaway garden chairs, ideal for last-minute guests or small patios, and The Range's £1.99 artificial grass tiles, which some renters have used to cover tired decking or balconies without making permanent changes. Top gardening trends of 2025 Gardening experts at Barnsdale Gardens has shared the top gardening trends of 2025. Matrix planting It seems that a top planting trend for this year is going to be Matrix Planting. In essence, planting in groups or blocks to give an effect of being wild whilst actually being carefully managed. Selection of the plants is essential, to give year-round interest either with flowers, seed heads or frosted/snowy spent flower heads. Some recommend using plants that seed around, but this could make managing your matrix planting harder to keep under control. Chrysanthemum comeback I hope that the humble Chrysanthemum makes as much of a comeback this year as Dahlias have over recent years, because the simple single flowered types, such as 'Innocence' and 'Cottage Apricot' would be spectacular within a matrix scheme. The hardy varieties are so easy to grow in a sunny spot and give such a valuable burst of late summer and autumn colour that would lift any dull- looking border. Blended borders For some time now we have been promoting the growing of veg within ornamental borders and I think this could really take off this year. The choice of ornamental-looking varieties available in seed catalogues is phenomenal and, if managed correctly, visitors to your garden will not even realise that you have veg growing! Must-have tool My secret is out. I discovered the Hori Hori a couple of years ago and now it seems so is everyone else. It is such a well-made, adaptable tool that can be used as a trowel or weeding tool in the garden that and everyone I speak to who have used it absolutely would not now be without it. Enough said! 2

The secret 'J rule' that can score you the best deals at T.J. Maxx and Marshalls

Bargain hunters have uncovered a clever trick for finding the best deals at T.J. Maxx and Marshalls. The hack is being branded as the 'J Rule' and it all comes down to knowing when to shop. This is because the best months to visit the stores are apparently the 'J months' of January and July, according to Apartment Therapy. These are the times when both retailers run their biggest clearance events of the year. In January, the stores clear out leftover holiday and winter stock. And, in July, they mark down summer items to make room for fall products. So, if you shop during these months, you are much more likely to find huge discounts, especially on yellow-tagged items, which are the final markdowns. This latest hack feeds into a handy color code system that all shoppers should know before going into the big stores. According to an anonymous employee, even the most seasoned shoppers could be missing out on the best deals by being unaware of this detail. While the colors of the stickered price tags may seem random, the employee previously told GOBankingRates, they in fact follow a very specific color code. A stickerless white tag means the item still has its original non-sale price, so you may want to wait to see whether it goes down any further. 'Red stickers mean the item is marked down but could keep getting lower,' they said. 'A yellow sticker means it's hit the final, lowest price we'll offer on that product. 'If you ever see a red and yellow sticker on something, you're getting the best possible savings,' they added. Shoppers should also look out for any damage to an item - however minor - which means they could ask for an additional discount. This could be chipped dishware, scuffed furniture or an item of clothing with a small hole in it. 'We're authorized to give customers a nice percentage off at the register just for asking politely,' they said. 'We'd rather give you the extra discount than have those items collect dust forever.' Weekday mornings are the best time to find bargains, they added. 'Weekends are crazy busy, so we put out new stuff weekdays. And if you have to choose a time, hit us in the late mornings and early afternoons for the freshest deals.'

Exact date Next is launching its 50% off summer sale – find out how to spot secret codes for special bargains

THE exact date Next is launching its 50% off summer sale has been revealed. The beloved fashion and beauty retailer is kick-starting its seasonal event this week, with shoppers keen to bag a bargain. 1 The fashion chain gives exclusive online access to its VIP members before the sale is launched in-store, and they've taken to social media to share the details. Invites were sent over the weekend, with the earliest slot available tomorrow July 2, according to the Next Sale, VIP, Bargains, and Codes Facebook group. Typically, when Next launches an online sale to VIP customers, it means the main sale will launch in stores a few days later. Next told The Sun its in-store sale will launch on Saturday, July 5. If you want to shop the offers in store, you can find your nearest branch by visiting But it is worth noting that each store may have different opening hours, so it is best to check with your local branch before going. Usually on the day of the Next sale, some stores open as early as 6am meaning some shoppers can be queuing in the early hours of the morning. But you don't need to be a VIP member to find special discounts at Next. Bargain hunters have discovered a way to predict which items will be in the sale ahead of time. Homebase is selling premium outdoor lanterns which don't require any plugs for under £30 - they're perfect for the summer nights Items are usually marked by staff in the days before the sale starts. These codes are written in pencil on the price tag, and the numbers next to the letters generally indicate the sale price of the item. So, if you want to visit your local store and earmark a bargain, you should keep your eyes peeled. The codes and the marked-down items can vary from store to store. SIGN UP FOR FUTURE VIP SLOTS If you want to receive a VIP Sale invite, you will need to open a nextpay credit account ahead of the event. This is a credit account that allows you to spread the cost of purchases from Next. It is too late to become a VIP for the summer sale, but you can always sign up ahead of time for the next one. When taking out a store card it is important to be careful and ensure it is something you can pay off. That is because interest rates can be very high, so you need to make sure you can pay them off in full each month. Other requirements to become a Next VIP include: Having a Next flexible credit account with at least £250 credit available Placing and keeping an order from the Next Directory within the last year Having an up-to-date email address registered with Next, and being registered to receive sale and promotional emails Receiving a copy of the Next Directory Returning less than two-thirds of the items ordered All VIP sale slots are granted on a first-come, first-served basis, and they're restricted to one per customer. Users have the best chance of getting amazing deals by accepting the first slot they're allocated because things can sell out quickly. How to make the most of the Next sale THESE tips from a Next employee can help you make sure you bag the best bargains when the sale launches. Familiarise yourself with the stock - check in store and online to see what items you might fancy, that means you'll be able to act fast once prices start dropping. Check online - often the sale launches online before stores open so go digital to get the best bargains. Consider the VIP scheme - if you have a credit account you can get access to the sale before the general public. Choose the right store - smaller outlets are likely to be less rammed, so you may have less competition for deals. Shop late in the day - around two hours before closing, staff start replenishing stock for the next day, so this is a great time to hit the stores. Look at ticket codes - if you're in a Next keep an eye out for black dots on tickets; chances are that means an item is going to be discounted, so you're better off waiting till the price drops. Homeware and women's clothing sells fastest - so you might want to get to stores first thing for these items.
